Two companies in the thick of the Haynesville Shale natural gas exploration and production in northwest Louisiana will celebrate openings of field offices this week and next.

The open house at EnCana Oil & Gas USA's field office northwest of Coushatta will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Cake and light refreshments will be served.

To get there, take U.S. Highway 71 about two miles north of town and turn right where U.S. Highway 371 splits.

Travel about six miles to state Highway 786, then turn right and go about 2.5 miles down Stark Way.

EXCO Resources Management Group will mark the opening of its field office and the groundbreaking of a gathering and treating facility in DeSoto Parish at 11 a.m. June 26.

It will be followed by a presentation at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon.

The 10,400-square-foot facility completed in May serves as headquarters for the company's northwest Louisiana operations and its 50 employees who are working on Haynesville Shale and other wells in the region.

EXCO Resources' office is 2.8 miles south of Interstate 49 on state Highway 175 in Kingston.
