Refer: Lincoln parish well # 246080. Well measured depth goal 18000 ft. Reached total depth of 12507 and appears to be stopped. What is well status? Any production? Assessment.
Thanks

The permitted depth is basically irrelevant. Operators often permit Measured Depths (vertical wells) and True Vertical Depths (horizontal wells) a good bit deeper than they expect to drill. They want to avoid at all costs having to suspend drilling and go back to the state for permission to drill deeper than their permit allows. The well is drilled to Total Depth but not reported as completed. It's not unusual for there to be a lag between TD and completion operations as it's a completely different crew and equipment that performs the frac. There's nothing to assess at this time. The vertical well bore could be perforated at one or more points during completion.. Until the perforation depths are listed there is no way to know for sure the formation that will be produced. Considering it's Wildhorse, it will likely be a CV completion quite possibly a LCV.
Thank you. Jim
Once the Gleason well (just east of this one) is finished drilling they are going to frac both wells. They are nearing completion of the Gleason well now, which, by the way, they decided to go ahead and drill horizontal after they reached their vertical TD. The possibility of doing that may be some of the reason for permitted depth. The pipelines to both wells are nearing completion.
Thanks, BirdDawg, poi.
well status is 09 - Active-Injection, which means they are likely performing the frac now. TD was reached 5/17/2013, but reported on 6/21/2013.
skip, the permit shows their target as LCV
Thanks for the update, Bob.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
