YOU are CEO. What would YOU do?
let's say you are CEO of "a" CHK'ish situation.
Management will do what is the best interest of the public shareholders
EXEPT: Management can no longer service the co.'s debt obligations thus default is eminent thus no choice but to file for federal protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code
EXCEPT: the co. owns assets, zillions of acres of operator mineral rights that are gonna possibly be worth 10 times what you owe in 20 years so NO to BR and it turns out ya have $500,000,000 cash.
Thus Management will do whatever it takes to just survive including using floating stock as currency to enable debtholders that really want out a way out. That stock of course then becomes what is termed "toxic".
- Could the price of NG pop and stay at $5.00 in 2017? Is there even the slightest remote possibility? Has the price of NG ever done that?
- If that happened, CHK's assets would increase significantly thus sell some, raise a lil cash, do a lil dance, make a lil love, pay down some debt.
- Survive as long as ya can.
- But odd question: Who now do you feel like you and the board are really workin' for?

The government hasn't outright banned coal mining either...
Regulations pretty much has though.
How would it be any different?
How much should we take either candidate at their word when they say they will either ban it (Bernie) or regulate it (Hillary) beyond being economical?
The Saudis has donated a tremendous amount of money to the Clinton Foundation and anything that would drive up costs would benefit them wouldn't it?
The prime users of coal have been replacing it with natural gas for years now. That shift should continue due to market forces regardless of past or current regulations. If the CPP passes legal muster, the process would be accelerated. Regardless of what any candidate may say in the election process once they are in office they will have to adopt a policy that allows fracking. There is no replacement for crude and natural gas without making the energy costs to consumers unacceptable. No politician would survive that type of scenario. They can all play to their bases now but I find it extremely doubtful that fracking will be banned, any Wall Street CEOs sent to prison or any walls built. All that is election year talk, nothing more. I find it patently absurd to think that the Sauds have any control over either Clinton based on donations to the Clinton Foundation.
100,000 frac'd wells? not 1 single problem. geebus the space shuttle blew up quick. then a 2nd loss. yep those dang tiles.
There are problems. They're just not directly related to fracking. How many spills so far this week? Two that I can recall. A proliferation of earth quakes is another. Once again not directly related to fracking. There are even instances of contamination of aquifers. And also not related to fracking. They are casing integrity issues. These are real problems as opposed to propaganda. The industry does not merit a free ride. Regulations are required to minimize serious risks. Ask the families of the eleven men that perished on the Deepwater Horizon. Or the thousands of S LA families impacted by the spill.
Fracking has come to be synonymous with all that is wrong with the production of oil and gas when in reality it is the thing that will allow the U.S. to reduce its carbon footprint while keeping energy affordable for the consumer. The industry has done a lousy job of pr and now is faced with the result - a misinformed citizenry that is easily swayed because of a preexisting distrust of energy companies. I see television ads that talk about the importance of natural gas to the economy and jobs. None address the misconceptions spread by the extreme greens regarding fracking. IMO there are plenty of middle of the road rational citizens who could be convinced about the facts of fracking but the debate is, once again, between two extreme political positions. The industry doesn't wish to be regulated and wants to be free to make money first and be concerned about the environment second. Or third. Or whatever. The extreme greens want to get rid of all fossil fuels the sooner the better with no regard to impracticality or the cost to the average consumer.
oh i had another CHK question. didn't Aubrey have a founder's agreement where the first $2mil after cost went to him with every CHK well? wonder what happened with that.
frac'ing is the most significant technological advancement by mankind in hundreds of years. the oil embargoes in the 1970's IMHO put the upper Midwest and the northeast out of business in many industries. it is more important to the eventual recovery from an unpleasant school class called Hypercapitalism 101. cheap DOMESTIC energy AND a new weapon to hurl at Russia if they misbehave. heck Syria sort of fell out of the headlines. why? pee-yew packed up and left. thus our "demo" worked. the usa can now bring crude prices to levels that truly gets through to Russia quick. it is/was very painful. 2 birds bagged. 1 stone. chalk one up for the yanks. (George Mitchell? you will Never Be forgotten. tyty. and sihp). on a different note the avg American needs to look themselves in the eye and ask: reasonable. fair. equitable. humble. not immoral. rational. honest. etc. am i part of a solution? or the problem? am i a winer. or do i want a win-win-winner. etc.
but i do firmly believe 2 things need to be addressed asap. the federal income tax system needs to be blowed up real good. this type of thing needs to be run at the community level. and second we need to face the social security promises failure. like asap solutions are needed. geebus a desktop supercomputer usin game theory could do as good and better than we mortals. it is a very complex serious failure.
my bros. and i want to drill our own wells and pay halib their usual, but throw in 10% perm royalty interest for them on every well they do their frac'in magic. the energy industry needs a "makeover". it needs professionals handling its image, pr, etc. the old wildcatter model is history and a major liability now.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
