What is HBP?
Held By Production. A common industry term for lands that have existing production which holds the leases in force. Those sections noted as HBP already have a completed well.
Here is my confusion. In 2N 3E sections 12 & 13 there are no completed wells. There is current drilling but the rig just spudded last week. Am I missing something?
William, the reason I put "in whole or in part" in the discussion title is because there are a number of instances where only part of a section is included in a drilling unit and indeed instances where portions of a section may be included in more than one unit. In the case to which you refer a portion of Section 13 is included in the unit for the completed Joe Jackson 4-13H and a portion in the permitted but not yet drilled Sabine 12H comprised of all or portions of Sections 1, 12, 13 & 14,
Thanks for the explanation.
You're welcome. Trinidad Drilling Rig 125 spud the Sabine 12H #2 6/22.
How do they drill 2 wells at the same time with one rig? !2H-1 was spudded on the 19th and now 12H-2 on the 22nd. Didn't think that was possible.
You think correctly. I went back through the weekly rig reports and didn't find an entry for the #1, only the #2. I don't show the #1 spud in my spreadsheet. Probably my typo from the report.. Thanks for the heads up.
Sec. 13, T2N, R3W is not in the Joe Jackson 4H-1 & 4H-2 unit. Secs. 4 & 9 are.
James, I didn't say Section 13 was in the Joe Jackson 4H #1 & #2. I said it was in the Joe Jackson 4-13H. The 4-13 was completed back in May, 2008.
Barry, those sections are not followed by a "D" or "HBP". They are, as my discussion title indicates, included in a TMS unit.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
