Several folks in PD have supposedly been contacted........ Several on these boards say that there is not shale north of Benton?? Who knows. My suggestion... Be patient!

Ann, I live in section 19, T19N, R13W, that's just north of Cash Point. Many of us were leased about 2 1/2 yrs ago by Meagher Oil & Gas, who seems to have sold an interest to Southern Star Energy. I understand they leased about 5700 acres from around Cash Point to near Benton and from the river to near Airline. They are the ones that drilled and completed the five wells you're referring to. I've been told that those wells were drilled to the Cotton Valley zone and are now on-line and producing. They plan to drill 10 more wells the second half of this year, including some well(s) a little deeper to see if the Haynesville Shale is there or not. Hope this helps. Oh, we did not get big bonuses in 2006.

Thank you for replying...we were not leased in 2006, so I'm wondering if the oil and gas companies would be interested in leasing in this section if other properties in the section have already been leased. I do know of a few people that leased in 2006.

Ann, I live in your section "Plantation Estates" and have not signed an agreement with anyone. I understand that certain people in our neighborhood are currently talking to Twin Cities about leasing for $6,500/AC/3YR/2YR/1/4. I don't know the fine details because I did attend the meeting and have not seen the paperwork. I understand that some land just South of me are getting $10k/AC.

I plan on waiting it out (it's too early) or until I am contacted directly by a drilling company with an offer in writing that is comparable to some of the other offers I have heard about in South Shreveport $20k/30%.

Are there meetings for this area of Bossier...if so where are they being held? I would like to attend. Is Plantation Estates the subdivision off Lafitte?

Yes Ann, that's Plantation Estates. A few of my neighbors here in P.E. have leased for $6,500 3/2, I have heard (thru Twin Cities). I think this agreement came from the meeting at Cypress Baptist at the beginning of the summer. I know of a few on Teche who have not leased. I'm like you and waiting to see if any other offers surface. I have not been contacted by anyone concerning leasing. It would be nice to know how many in our subdivision have not leased so we could see how many total acres are available. Also, I heard a rumor about Chesapeake purchasing a house and acreage on Vanceville for a possible drilling site.

No, those are part of the Cotton Valley Shale. Also off Swan Lake ther is a permit let to drill accross from the new Legacy School, but it is in the Cotton Valley Shales it's only about 9,000 feet deep.
