What is the size of the unit.   960 ac  or 1280 ac.

By my count this will be Whiting's 7th unit application.  They are in Webster (2) Claiborne (3), Union (2) Parish.

1280 acres, I think.

1280 acres is correct.

Does anybody know if Whiting has started buying leases again or are they still on hold for now?

I know Whiting severed their relations with Penterra. They kept Miller with a skeleton crew here in the area. They have about two leasing agents only and from what I was told by a released agent, they were on standby. I understand they are waiting on the development of the permitted units but that is just what I was told. I do not know anymore than what I was told and cannot vouch for the reliability but it seemed believable.

Thanks Glenn.  I had heard something similar a while back.  Do you know what happened with Penterra?

I have heard the future interest is more to where Miller was operating and I have also heard WLL was more comfortable with keeping Miller. This is just what I heard from the same source.

Aubrey is this near the old Gleason Crater

Cynthia, Without looking at a map, I can tell you that Whiting proposed unit is approximately 6 miles NE of crater.

I hope you or a representative for you can attend meeting next week. Very important to you, I think.

Aubrey

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
