I had a friend call me asking about Fortress Management.  I am in the bottom of township 20 north, 8 west.  I believe this is the same group that came to the Harris School a year and a half ago. I think they charge a 4% fee on the signing bonus.  Has anyone else heard anything about this group? I could use the 4% for an oil and gas attorney and have a good contract.

An experienced O&G attorney is a far superior choice than Fortress Management. Or any similar company that offers to negotiate on your behalf for a percentage. Fortress was involved with one or more Shreveport area mineral groups. There was some controversy concerning their business relationship with Chesapeake. I'm sure they will tout their success with the Haynesville Shale over here. As there is no producible HS in Claiborne Parish, it begs the question, what are they doing there. I suspect the answer is they made a fair amount of money in their few deals here and wore out their welcome to the point that they had to go elsewhere to find willing mineral interests. A good O&G attorney charging by the hour with the bill split amongst a group will give you better professional leadership and cost you much, much less in the long run.

I suggest that you go to the GHS archives and read what has been posted previously concerning Fortress.
