I thought this map of the Eagle Ford trend interesting as it show activity possibly moving east towards Trinity County.  I could'nt help but notice the block indicating lease amounts - $200-$2000/ac.  :-)  I hope that continues eastward.

The Eagle Ford is dry gas in Trinity County. I am very negative on the short term for leasing, as gas prices are in the tank. I was associted with a big lease poition in Trinity and could not give it away after months of intensive marketing. $2000 per acre is not realistic in my opinion. With these gas prices, the EF has no value in Trinity County

I hear you.  I know $2000 is dreaming but I am hoping to get more than the $200 1/6 royalties I received last February for a two year extension (negotiated by the previous owner).  I am just across the Houston County line on 1280 so I am hoping that greater interest will extend east of the East Lovelady wells.

Thanks, great map.  I know not to take these maps too literally but it is something to keep an eye on.  I have a small glimmer of hope that I may see a lease some day.

You and I have the same understanding regarding the relative position of the formations as I do.  What I have been told is that the Eagle Ford/Austin Chalk/Buda blend together to varying degrees, and that since the Eagle Ford in particular was not conventionally productive, it was often lumped during logging with either Buda or AC.  It will be interesting to see TMS results and results of some of the "Austin Chalk" wells in Jasper, Newton, etc being done by Anadarko.  If you were trying to "hide" Eagle Ford in this part of east Texas, it might be easy to call some of your exploration and evaluation work Austin Chalk...

 

Deep Bossier will probably eventually be tapped for gas over a pretty wide area, but I think prices need to be back up to push much testing or development,

There are some logs for Houston County, including logs by Cordillera, Navidad, that appear to include the Buda and by extension shallower zones. You might be able to pick up a few logs in Angelina County, Polk, Tyler, Newton, etc, but references to the Buda appear to disappear. You still get references to the Woodbine and to Austin Chalk. maybe we've got a geologist lurking who will do a little pro-bono work...

Navidad received a blanket SWR 10 exception to comingle production from the Fort Trinidad & Fort Trinidad, East (Buda, Georgetown & Upper Glenrose).

I'd seen that but had only processed it as being interesting for the well in question.  Expanded field wide, it might make some things more interesting.

Yes, I had posted about the exception as a separate discussion before I thought about it and decided it would be better posted here.

It sounds like Navidad plans on drilling lots of vertical wells. No doubt they will be looking for EF in their AOI if they are going to the Buda and deeper.

Didn't process it until today - Rippy Oil Company had a recent report for the Easterling #2H in Leon County 289-31859.  Its reported as Eagle Ford and tested at 21 bbls/day.

Range Resources has just drilled a horizontal well in Walker County, the Gibbs Brothers 1-H, with a 4400' lateral in the Eagleford, or "Eaglebine". The section is low resistivity, and looks similar to Trinity and Polk Counties...the rumors are swirling and range has a huge acreage position. I hear they have a load of landmen trying to get more acreage in the area...this well has the potential to heat up Trinity and northern Polk County as well. Time will tell...., but if this well is as good as I am hearing it will change conventional views regarding what log characteristics are necessary for economic horizontal development.
