Checking the activity in the area.  I know that lease offers vary widely in the parish based on location.  I received a call from Barrett Oil and Gas.  I have not called back yet but my guess is they are calling about acreages North of I-20 in section 8.  Any updates on lease prices?

Are you referring to Section 8 in 19N-4W or in 19N-3W?

Sec 08-T18N-R4W

Know anything about Barrett Oil and Gas?

No, they are not a corporation registered with the LA Secretary of State and they are not recognized as an "operator" by the State Office of Conservation.  S8-18N-4W  is in an area with little well control (existing or historical wells drilled to a specific target depth).  Range has a well producing from Sections 2 & 11 about three miles east and it is the most westward fringe of the area where horizontal LCV wells have been drilled.  There is company science handed down through predecessor companies (Petrohawk, Wild Horse, MRD) for that area west of the Terryville Complex but only a couple of western exploratory wells have been drilled in the last 4 or so years and none proved economic.  Since none of those companies moved west, and indeed moved a little east and then south over the intervening years, it is curious what Barrett O&G may be up to.  If they were an established land company, they would normally be registered with the state.  I am unaware at this time of any leasing beyond your post in that area but I haven't maintained a remote account with the parish clerk of court.  I suggest that you request additional information on Barret O&G since they do not appear to have a website and that you make a trip to the clerk's record room to see if Barrett has filed any O&G leases recently.  Be cautious.
