Devon permitted the Gray RA SUH Clay Colvin B 006-Alt in Section 24, T19N-R3W. Permit date December 7. Permit depth 12,500 feet.
Should be interesting due to the fact that in February of 1997 the Gray RA SUH Clay Colvin B-004 well was completed at the rate of 7.2 million cubic feet/day. August 2009 production on that well at 800 mcfd. That well has made a ton of gas.

Given that 1997 the Gray RA SUH Clay Colvin B-004 was such a great well (without the new fracing technology), do you think Devon will use the new technology for the Gray sand?
I would think so.
BD - I was up in Lincoln Parish last week circling around and I ran into a HK field guy and he said that Comstock currently had the highest bid for HK's interest in the Terryville. He also said that they wanted to close the deal this month. Hopefully will close soon and stimulate more drilling in our area!
Hey Dave,
Thanks for the info. I guess Comstock does seem to be a logical player since they operate a small amount of the field already. Keep us posted if you hear anything else.
BD - As I understand the Ruston Field, the Haynesville formation overlies the Gray sand of the Smackover formation. How thick is the Haynesville formation in the Ruston Field?
Sierra,
Sorry, I can not answer that question. But I do not expect the Haynesville to be productive in Lincoln Parish. Hopefully I am wrong.
But when someone can view the logs on this Gray Sand test, they can tell you what the Haynesville looks like.
Good luck to everyone!
SONRIS indicates that Devon's new well #240535 in the Gray Sand - section 24, T19N-R3W was potentialed on 3/17/10 but no results listed.
BirdDawg - seems that Devon completed the well higher up between 9680 and 9762. Wonder what they found, or did not find in the deeper Gray Sand. This is the latest post from SONRIS for well # 240535
