If you have land around the Olympia, did you get your letter today?

We got a letter today that indicates that Shell is getting ready to drill 25 wells in 25 sections around the Olympia. How long does it take to get the permits and then get the drilling started?

This is encouraging to me and makes me thankful I leased in May. Maybe leasing will pick back up in Sabine, since the Olympia was obviously a good well.

When you say you were "permited on 1=23-08", do you mean that you got a letter then and that Shell (?) got a permit on that date to drill there in your section?
The application was approved for grogan field on that date 1-23-2008.I checked with sonrise under applications.
Steve, your sec 6 north is right next to the section with the Murray well just out of P.Hill. So sorry you are not in the just named 25 sections.
Hello everyone,
My family has 80 acres: Section 18, Township 9 N, Range 11W
Between Belmont and Pleasant Hill
West side of Hwy 175.
We've spent the last couple of months locating family members and now are ready (and finally able) to talk to a land leasing company. I'm reading as fast as I can but really know little about the situation up there. Can anyone of you point me in the right direction to start the process?
best,
Steve Barnhill

Have you tried honey cut hill corp? They represent chspke. Also try calling shell/encana. Encana has an office in coushatta. I don't have numbers but you should be able to google them.

These are the companies doing the leasing in your area.
From what I have learned Chspke and Shell are the two biggest players in this area. The folks that just recently signed are getting $10,000.00 to $13,500.00 per acre. Since you have 80 acres you should be able to get the high end of this range. Get a good lease addendum page. I signed early for only $40000.00 per acre, but I have a really good addendum page.
You may also want to look at the schedule of public hearings tag on the main page, and search for grogan to see if your land is around some of the units that shell has already formed.
Hey,
Thanks for the reply. Like I said I'm reading as fast as I can I just found this site this morning and it's really helpful. I've got a friend (or at least he was a friend..heehee) that is writing for someone up there but haven't been able to talk to him for a month or so. So Shell is the player up there now? Didn't they drill a 18,000 ft. well east of Hwy 175 a while back?

thanks again and best regards,
(Still a readin' fast)
Steve
Both the olympia and murry (shell wells) are west of 175 but are not to 18000 ft.

Chspke has leased several sections around belmont and north of belmont so they will have a foothold in the area.

Shell was offering 10000-12000 for the area and chspke was at 12500 to 13500. Leasing has slowed down in the area but with 80 acres you should be able to generate some interest seeing as how they plan to put a well every 80 acres.

Also go back to the schedule of public hearings and search for san miguel in under the 2007 tab. This should show the application for the olympia well with all the sections where shell applied for unitization.
Thanks olddog! We may be in a unit for this well now. I'm trying to find out now.The property is still in my great grandfathers name (as I understand things)...so we have issues there.
best,
Steve
I love olddog. I have enjoyed reading your comments since I have been addicted to this site for nearly 3 months now. Always up on everything and has everyone's best interest at heart.
Try to work with Chesapeake. I have signed with both Audubon Oil and Chesapeake. Audubon works for Shell. Like olddog said, Honeycutt Hill Corp. works for Chesapeake. Chesapeake, if still signing, makes better offerings. My suggestion (take it for what it is worth), don't get into a haggling (offer/counteroffer/counteroffer) match with them. Try to figure out what clauses or stipulations you want in your lease, see what kind of an offer they will make. Even put the offer out to a few. See if you like it. I feel like they are getting to where they just as soon walk off from it than get in a greedy squabble. Boy, I hope no one chews me out for this comment.
