A landman called me today, looking  for land to lease.  He said that Devon pulled out of
San Augustine two weeks ago.  Comments please!

He may be trying to make you believe that he is your only option for a lease at the moment. It comes to mind that the same story made a round several weeks ago about Cabot.

I wouldn't be surprised if leasing slows way down... gas is less than $4.00/mcf right now.
Hey jffree, ... you, Skip and Cherleader (I'm certan there are more) should have a fan club, I enjoy all your posts. Seeking advice (from all members) for S.A. Co., only 11.8 nma or about 71 nma as a family. With the NG price so low, is there any rush in paying a retainer to an attorney to begin solicitation for a lease expiring in November? What do ya'll think about soliciting offers as an owner, then paying the retainer for negotiation only? Just looking for a strategy. Ya think another Kardell, say Ironosa if successful would exert upward pressure on potential bonus rates? Thanks in advance for your time. My apologies if misplaced.
I'd say just sit tight. Do nothing for now.
Phillip Ware, you have been given good advice. I wouldn't do anything right now. There are 9 or 10 HA wells in the county that we are all waiting to hear results on. Could be you will hear about one near you before November.
I agree. The future of these wells will substantiate your position.
Devon pulling out of San Augustine??? Whoever this "landman" is tell him to stop insulting your intelligence.
land men like this is what makes the oil business bad he need to be band from the trad
Is the Pope "pulling out" of the Vatican???
Bad form!
Does anyone know of the current price per rod for a pipe line to cross a portion of your property from 1 well to another? We were told (by the company man that he only could pay $225/rod. Another person in the business has told us that $250/rod was the current amount in San Augustine county. Anyone have any other info? Neither well is on our property nor or we included in the units. Thanks
Catfish, that is a great question. If you would start a new discussion with this question it should get lots of response considering all the pipeline development announced recently.
