Devon has an investor event scheduled for next Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what additional information, if any, they might divulge regarding the Kardell and their next few E.Texas wells (Warr Unit/Shelby Co, Whitton/Shelby Co.) at that time.....

Thanks for the info - I look forward to hearing about these wells too! I want to hear what they discovered during the drilling of their exploration phase of the Whitton well. Even if it is nothing... I feel like a cat and the curiosity about what is under there is driving me crazy, plus they might match down on Quirk with the horizonal completion.

Goodwin is about 4 miles North off of 103 on FM 1277.

After listening to Devon's 4Q call, the only mention other than talking about Kardell IP and current production of @ 3 mmcfd, was during the Q&A portion of the call. When asked about what happened with the well by the guy from Goldman Sachs, they said they were not going for a maximum IP rate by opening up the well, they felt it was capable of handling that choke. They said the shale is thinner and they are still learning the southern part of the plays characteristics. They said they are working on two Bossier wells that have thicker formations and are still optimistic about the area. They didn't sound as optimistic as I have heard them before. These comments are paraphrased by me and YMMV.

During the fourth quarter of 2009, Crimson announced the successful completion of the company’s first well in East Texas; the Kardell #1H which recorded the highest 24-hour gas rate reported to date in the entire Haynesville Shale play (30.7 Mcfe per day). Since that time the well has produced almost 1 Bcf of natural gas in the first 90 days of production. The Kardell well brought significant attention to San Augustine County as a potential new “Core Area” of the play. We have recently executed a one-year rig contract for our planned drilling activity in East Texas. The first of five planned operated wells during 2010 is expected to spud in early March

If my calculations are correct this is an average of 10 million cubic feet a day for the first three months.

In Devon's Q4 report today, they mentioned that the well had produced almost 1BCF in it's 1st 90 days of production and is currently at "a little over 3 mmfcd".

Kardell isn't what they claim it to be. I can assure you that and that is all I can say.
