I have family with a 150+ acres in the Huxley Bay area. Other family members leased to Chesapeake early in the year. Is anyone aware of any active players still in the lease hunt? Had been contacted a few months back by reps with St. Marys, but, as of late, all has been quite. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Shelby

Sounds like Devon may be leasing again after the first of the year. I hear they still have a contact in Center. I didn't work with him, so don't remember his name, but I'm sure some others on the board will have that info. for you...
Leepfish,
Thanks for the reply; I hope that Devon starts up again, and will keep checking in.

Got a call from Family Tree yesterday.

They say they are still leasing and have never stopped. Their prices are lower.
Care to share their offer?
Hello,
I have family members between Center and Timpson and where told by Devon that they (and us) should have our money by the end of next week. We did hear that yesterday Devon paid a neighbor.

Rhet Williams in Center is the person that told us they would start looking for more land after the first of the year. He is with Devon.

I'll keep everyone posted on our situation and good luck to everyone else who is looking to lease.
I had some news yesterday from my son, who works oil field in Shelby & Nacogdoches county. He said, that Catcus Drilling is stacking rigs. He was told that they had already stacked 8 rigs, and laid off all the hands on those rigs. He said, that is about 1/4 of their total rigs. Also, other companies are also stacking rigs. We knew this would start happening. But, I wonder about all those high dollar leases. We know many of them can not be held unless they are drilled on. And, of course the companies can't recover their lease money, unless they drill and produce. Maybe things will pick up after the 1st of the year, I hope so.

17 rigs working just in Shelby county alone.
Hi Intrepid,
Thanks for giving us the bakerhughes site. I have been playing with it, and did get some good information, but using the map, and looking at Shelby County, I selected what I thought was all the wells around me, but did not get very many at all. About 20 which included parts of eastern Nac county and the northwest corner of San Augustine. I never did see any Catcus rigs. How did you get it to show 17 Catcus rigs in shelby county?
I can't figure out how to copy the picture but if you count the one on the Rusk-Shelby co line and the rest there are 17 in Shelby co. , 16 in Nacogdoches, 2 in San Augustine.

I put in Texas/ Shelby in the boxes at the bottom and then revised by individual county.

When I searched by East Texas Basin the screen was too small to show them all and the overlap was confusing. Haven't figured out their zoom yet.
thanks, I'll work on it some more...I can't figure out their zoom either.
