There is a posting in "Strictly Shale" about a Devon Energy, Cotton Valley well in Shelby County that is referred to as the Oliver #4 with a very large production of gas. Could someone tell me where this well is located? Thanks

It's in the Benjamin J. Porter Survey, A-559 on FM 1645. If you will look on the attached photo, it is the balloon with 19.623 next to it.

Thanks Jffree. Do you agree with the posting in "strictly shale" that this well is producing a very large amount of natural gas?
Yes, it's a pretty good well. I haven't looked at the production on it lately though so I have to go with what is posted until I look.

What towns or communities are near this well?

teacher it's NE of Martinsville.

The well is still currently the head of the class for all producing in Shelby County.

First turned to sales in Sept 2008 and has since produced just shy of 6.8 BCF with reports through October 2011. Peak month was Oct 2008 where it produced over 740,000 mcf for an average just shy of 25 mmcfd. Pretty strong numbers for a vertical completion.

The formation records on both of them are showing the Pay Zone at approximately 12,000 to 12,100' deepth. They list do list shallower formations such as Pettet, James Lime, Travis Peak etc, but then only list Cotton Valley as the last formation logged at around 10,000' deep. No mention of Haynesville or Bossier so it the exclusion of those formations make it SEEM like the producing zones are in the shallower Cotton Valley B zone.

Took another look at the completion reports for both that Oliver #4 and the Case #3 wells there in Shelby.

Thank you DG for taking the time to post this detailed info about the Oliver. My minerals are just 1/2 a mile away so it's much appreciated.
