you know, I don't know if comments are private. It is a lot to take in, though. My Mom would have signed the first offer in 2007 for $200 an acre if we hadn't intervened. She is in her 80's and that was the most she had ever heard of in her lifetime. So, she turned it over to my sisters and me (only 3 girls in family) to handle. I just signed into this site today after the conference call with my sister. So...am reading and learning. I do know that the best thing you can do when you do have a firm offer that you agree on is hire an attorney to develop an exhibit A wih addendums that will protect you. It will be well worth the bucks in the long term as this appears to be just the beginning of the play. Good luck to you. You can also read The Shreveport Times online and gather information. I also found tigerdroppings.com a helpful blog.

I just called my other sister who lives in Weston Lakes in Fulshear as she was in Louisiana at a meeting with one of the landmen that we may be doing business with, so we had a conference call via Skype. We have over 300 acres in North Sabine--not a lot, but in a 640 acre unit, it is significant. DeSoto has been a real hotbed of activity. My best friend is a professional landman in south Louisiana and she has been a great guide through this process. Today will make about the 12th rep to contact us--I've lost track. It seems they are coming out of the woodwork.
