I checked out the SWSHC website last night and it appears that the Kingston Rd./Bert Kouns coalition has joined up.

This pushes up the number of landowners in the SWSHC coalition up to 800-900, up from 400-500.
Given more time maybe we can absorb a few more smaller groups in the area and become a really large force to be reckoned with.
One that the O&G companies can't so easily dismiss as say a group of 20-30 landowners.

Thoughts, questions or comments?

I have some news to report.

My next door neighbor has a son who lives in Stonewall and he has been offered 26,000/acre.
I have a friend in the same area and he has refused to tell me exact numbers but he told me that the most recent offered to him and his group of neighbors is much, much larger than the previous offer of 15,000/acre from a private investor.

If anyone else has news to back these unconfirmed reports, please post it here.

Thanks,

Patrick G.

I have a relative in Acadiana Place subdivision and i recall seeing a report in the paper about a coalition of neighborhoods in the eastern part of Shreveport.

I can't recall the group's name but when i mentioned this to my relative he said that nobody had talked to him yet.

Could his Homeowner's Association have brokered this deal on his behalf without his knowledge? Not being in a gated community i wouldn't know how it works.

If anyone knows about this group please let me know what their name is, how much they are getting per acre/royalties and whom to contact for my relative to get the paperwork rolling.

Thanks for the assist,

Patrick G.

I would love to get at least 10 members for Southern Hills but i don't know if i have the time to recruit.
If you need to blend this group into the South Caddo group, by all means go for it.

Have a good weekend!

hey Patrick, i would like to get at least 10 members for the Southern Hills group in order to keep it...otherwise blend this group into a discussion under the Parish group. Do you think it is possible to get 10?

I heard recently that a group of residents of the Fountainbleau subdivision off of Mansfield Road just south of Bert Kouns united and negotiated a lease with a $12,500/acre signing bonus.

My next door neighbor told me that the Southern Hills Homeowners Association is having another meeting at Southwood High School tomorrow, Thursday, at 6 pm.

My wife and I are going to attend but i don't expect to hear anything that i haven't already heard from friends who have already banded together with their neighbors, gotten a lawyer to represent them and gotten better deals because of their patience.

The one thing my neighbor told me about the meeting last night is that the lawyer wanting to represent all of the Southern Hills people wants to be paid in one of two options.

1. 1 percent of each person's royalty payment.
2. 4 percent of their up-front money.

Depending on the length of contract, projected monthly royalty payment and up-front money would determine how i would go.
Also would each person have the right to choose which option they wanted or would the group as a whole have to pick one or the other?

Will post tomorrow night after the meeting.

By the way, my neighbor told me that the auditorium at Southwood was standing room only and people were being turned away.
Looks like more and more neighborhoods need to do this so that everyone can benefit from this new influx of money.
Hopefully people with small lots (less than an acre, 1/2 and smaller) will be able to get better than average monies thanks to the ability to unify and get representation.

Let me know if anyone hears something new about leases being signed in Southern Hills, amounts, length of term and who is signing.

Thanks and have a good night.
