LSU Graduate Student Requesting Stakeholder Input

Hello everyone, and thank you for your interest in my research!

My name is Crawford White and I am a graduate student in The Department of Environmental Sciences at LSU in Baton Rouge. I hold a BS in Geology and am pursuing a Masters in Environmental Science.

As development of the Haynesville Shale continues in Louisiana, I feel that it is important to understand the response from Louisiana's residents. I've developed a thesis project to do just that, and would appreciate your help and input.

Below you'll see a link to a survey I've designed specifically for this website's members. I will survey a random sample of all of NW Louisiana Residents as well, but gohaynesvilleshale.com gives me a unique opportunity to survey individuals who are actively aware of the development. Keith Mauck has kindly allowed me to post my survey here, and I look forward to your responses!

Take-Home Points of This Survey:

  1. You must be over 18 to participate.
  2. This survey is targeted at Louisianans, but all feedback is welcome!
  3. This will take <10 Minutes.
  4. The entire process is completely anonymous.
  5. The survey is IRB-Approved (to ensure privacy and rights of participants.)
  6. That's it! Just click the image below if you're ready to participate and continue to the survey.

Thank you to everyone who has offered their input! It will really help move my research project forward. My post originally put a deadline of November 30, but please feel free to complete the survey throughout the next month if you'd like-- I appreciate any input you're willing to offer.

Thanks,

Crawford.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
