Joe Dyer here, I have been reading all my messages in my box the last few months. To be honest with everyone I have been rather disapointed. We have seen to have lost site of why we started GoHaynesvilleShale. We all need to remember why this site was started, to share information about the Natural Gas situation that we have been blessed with. We need to share our information on everything we learn and find out. I know we all have our differences, but I think we should not use this site to show our angers, maybe we should get together in person and talk about things in a respectfull manor, It's just the way we were raised by a wonderful family. Don't argue and talked things out. Well,I was one of the first members of GHS and I will continue to report on the activity to the best of my knowlege and truthfull knowledge to the best of my ability to all my friends, groups, and members of GHS, Sincerely, Joe Dyer

I have learned so much from this site it's unbelievable. I knew nothing about O&G 15 months ago, and now I'm comfortable with most of the lingo and feel I have a grip on my personal position thanks to the comments others have made. I think some of the bickering is the result of too much hope, too much hype, and too little going on at the moment. We would all like this play to move along a little faster and pad our pockets a little sooner, and anticipation brings frustration, then frutration brings a sharp tongue. Patience is a virtue we all need more of, at least I know I do.

I heard someone say one time that unless someone asks or it's a matter of life or death, we should keep our opinions to ourselves. LOL! Here, it's sometimes hard to answer anyone's questions without a certain element of personal opinion and that's understandable and necessary - but insults and crude, offensive language shouldn't really play a part of any GHS.com discussion, IMHO.

I've moderated a couple of websites during the past 12 years and been an administrator at another and I KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that members of most sites fall into two categories - the ones who want to participate in a reasonably cordial, comfortable atmosphere and the ones who prefer confrontational behavior...and, ultimately, one setting or the other will win out. It's simply human nature.

A website for adults doesn't have to be a Sunday school setting nor a mud-wrestling event - with a little tolerance and self-control, there can be a happy medium where most members are comfortable participating in the discussions.

Hey Joe, Rosebud, Cannie - Perhaps if members that get under each others' skin would think of one thing first before posting ... that thought should be, "I'll give the benefit of the doubt about this." And then, if we can't see our way clear of that benefit, use the next best thing ... "say nothing at all."

Not long ago, someone recognized, and posted, that perceptions were coloring judgement & ended up being reflected in posts. That person recognized that such divisivness was becoming detrimental not only to the interactions of members, but also the exchanges of needed information and thus the atmosphere on the site.

Thanks, Joe & Rosebud & Cannie, for giving this issue a whirl. With members like you pulling for us, maybe we can then pull it (back) together?

best - sesport :0)

Joe, it's obvious you're speaking from your heart and I'd like to also. If GHS.com had custom usernames/titles, I'd vote to make Cannie the site "Goodwill Ambassador" and I doubt there'd be any argument there!

None of us should be bickering and whining - somewhere, somehow, doesn't it seem like all too often being knowledgeable and wanting to share ideas, experiences and suggestions took on the tone of being authoritative and confrontational? Cannie hung in there in spite of the drama - some of us have had a hard time dealing with it.

As online communities go, GHS.com could very well be the greatest online reference on the Haynesville Shale any of us could ever be blessed to have free access to but taking it for granted, assuming most members enjoy the drama, seems to me to be taking a terrible toll.

I, too, joined to gain information and knowledge about the shale, and I most definitely have. There's a saying that we all take good care of the people we care for and the material possessions we value - should not the same idea hold true for our online community?

Well said JD! I refuse to enter the drama. I refuse to take sides. I did not join this site to bicker and whine. I joined to gain info and knowledge about the shale. That is what I will continue to do.
