In Devon's Investor call today, they also mentioned that they will bring 5 rigs to E.Texas for 2010 and that they currently have 105 target sites in Shelby, San Augustine and Sabine Counties that they plan to drill in the next two years in order to secure their lease holds.

When you throw all of the other players in along with DVN and XTO, it looks like it will start getting pretty darn busy there in E.Texas over the next few years.

I haven't heard anything about XTO leasing in the area... I know they have the Hunt acreage that is hbp already. Anyone know anything about XTO that they can share?

I contacted XTO a while back and they weren't interested in our area which is around 103 and FM705.

JWC, I don't know how much acreage they got from Hunt in the area but I do know that some of it was at County Line. They have some wells just down the road from my cousins land on CR 1015. I think that's the right road number.

i had a meeting with an xto rep. yesterday. he told me they were activly leasing in the area. he also told me xto deemed the area as "the real deal haynesvilleshale" . another thing he said was that xto had just completed the construction of a frac pond in st. augustine county although i have no idea where. this sounds very exciting for all of us .

Also they have a ton in Panola - many seem to be permitted and/or producing Carthage wells, but many more seem to be deeper horizontals permitted in 2009....

d gaar, i know for a fact that early on xto had permitted a bunch of verticle wells that they are now going back and revising as horizontal. this takes a little work and time to do. the plats have to be resurveyed and redrawn. hope my tid bits of information are helpful.

We have about 100,000 net acres in the Haynesville, and about half of it is in the Shelby, Nacogdoches, and San Augustine area where you’ve been hearing about a lot of really big wells and I will go through in that in detail.


...spend a little bit of time now going down to Shelby and Nacogdoches and St. Augustine, where a lot the chatter has been about recent wells. We have two wells down, we’re completing right now.

Again half of our acreage is in that general vicinity. People have Bossier shale and Haynesville shale loaded up. We’ve been quiet about that as we haven’t really wanted to talk about that while we picked up more acreage in the interim, but now that the cat is out of the bag, we’ll talk a little bit about it.

Our first well that we’ll be completing right now is a 2,400 foot short lateral. The second one is a 6,400 foot lateral that we will start here in the next couple of weeks. So we’ll have some good data going forward. Obviously, with Devon’s announcement of their well just to the south of our acreage, that’s lit up the area for the moment. We have done a vertical Bossier shale test in one of our wells that actually tested around 800 Mcf a day, the vertical well, which means the Bossier shale in this area will be bit as well.

I'm curious to know which well they are planning to drill the 6,400' lateral? How many frac stages would they be looking at on that one - 15? 20?

Crap, with that long of a lateral doesn't foretell that the IP on that one when it's completed should be pretty interesting as well....

Yes, it will be interesting. I heard them talk about one in Oklahoma, I think, that had 17 frack stages. It was also over 6k' if I remember correctly. It's pretty interesting to listen to an XTO call. When they finally decide that they can talk about an area they share lots of details on their wells.
