Has anyone heard of the "big" companies hiring the smaller drilling companies to drill haynesville pilot holes until bigger rigs are available to drill the horizontals? Seems like this would also work to tie up the leases with gas going down such as it is.

A friend that moves the rigs told me about this. He said just like you mentioned the smaller rigs drill down to about 9000' then move off and a larger rig finishes.
Some time this will be done to save the lease , that getting close to run out . And the rig maybe tie up at that time . Allso could save money on rig contrack . Smaller rig get a lower rate , than big rig . Now my rig can drill 30120' we just finish a record in Saudi Arabia Nabors 115 idon't know for sure if this right about smaller rig .? fisherman.
