I have inherited some royalties in the S O Pennington survey, Shelby Co. My mother bought them in 1943. I have a division order for the S.E. Lambert Unit #1. I cannot identify the well on the TRRC maps. There are some 23 wells in the Pennington survey and only one dry hole, all the rest are producing gas wells. I assume the TRRC maps are up to date and none of these wells are actually plugged long ago. Does any one recall a SE Lambert Unit #1 in this survey.

As I recall the Jasper County Courthouse in MS only charges .25cents a page.
Then Jasper is 10 years behind.
If the courthouse doesn't certify, you are holding a turd in your hand.
Visiting the Jasper Co courthouse in Paulding MS was an adventure. It was the only building left in the town(hamlet) that was not falling down and/or boarded up. The new courthouse doubled as the fire station which was a good idea since the courthouse burned down some years ago. The clerks were very helpful and a landman who was checking records there helped me get back up to speed after all these years.

I really cannot believe all the help you folks have given me. Guess I will wrap this up fo tonoght and start again in the morning. By Monday I will do some calling around and see what I can shake out of the trees, but I agree the first target is for sure the Receiver lease.

Yes I also miss spelled vara and it is 2.7777 feet. I was not aware that it was still being used in 1948.
"I am most unhappy to be told that there is a 3-4 year statute of limitations on back royalties".

We can all understand that. It stinks! Good luck to you John. I hope you get your back royalites, after all you've paid taxes on them.
John---if you have 91.48 acres of net minerals even in Texas that is not small. I have 82.5 in Joel White about 2 miles from the Goodrich well and if I got drilled in good shale producting unit it could be live changing for me --- Good luck to the both of our families

Got up this morning and was able to get the various plats for SO Pennington survey. Thanks to your instructions. Unfortunately the 91.48 acres in which I have a mineral interest does not show up as such. The reciever lease does not do anything but refer to all the old deeds which are no help either, not being tied to survey boundries shown on the plats..
John Starke--curiosity are the 91.48a under same 91.48a of land or undivided in larger tract? Do you know the physical location of the land? It's hard to believe that as many wells there are in the survey that your tract is not in a unit somewhere. Your royalty maybe in escrow unclaimed someplace. Have you thought above having a surveyor run the old legal description in deeds on their software and get a print out of plat of your property and then see if can find it in survey? If you can get plat maybe can find some landman that would share there map of Pennington survey with you to ID your tract maybe.
Good thought. I have been trying to fit in the description contained in the surveyors report in vol 276 page 547and 548. Having downloaded the plat for the W.M. Taylor #6 I see the Smotherton tract but the other tracts mentioned in the surveyors report are not shown on that plat.
John--Good hunting-- would love to know what you find when you get it resolved one day and you find your minerals location and what active that there are in either unleased or place in unclaimed royalty status.
Thanks Hardage. The plat is nearly the same as the one I have for the Taylor #6. Still looking for some more detail.
