What Price Are You Getting for Gas? Last Update: March 25, 2011

Hello Everyone,

 

Here are the latest numbers.  If anyone else wishes to participate and provide data for my survey, please follow the instructions below.  I welcome all data.

I am now asking each respondent to provide me the following:

Section/Township/Range -- everyone (if you are in Texas, tell me your county, and the survey)

If you get your check from Chesapeake, please tell me:
Price received (before severence tax)
Does your lease entitle you to cost-free royalties?

If you get your check from one of the others,  please tell me:
Company you leased to
Company who is operating the well
Gross price
Please tell me each deduction, and the amount.
Net amount (before severence tax).  [I know, gross minus deductions ought to equal net, but I just want to make sure.]

So far, you are confirming the conspiracy theories about Chesapeake. They do appear much lower than others, based on what we see here so far. But, we need more data..... C'mon people....

Producer sells production to cousin (gathering line)for $4/mcf. Cousin sells same production to big pipeline for$8/mcf. Royalty owner gets paid on sale to cousin(first sale) at $4/mcf. Producer and cousin meet behind bushes, and split remaining $4/mcf. True situation. TXO vs Hagen,et al- Texas case. Don't leave the fox in charge of the henhouse! Don't ask, and you will notreceive.

Everything you say makes sense. It is hard, if not impossible, for a small landowner to go to court and fight these guys. However, if the information gets out, it may cause landowners to avoid certain companies. Imagine if everyone in the Marcellus Shale found out that a certain company was paying 20% less to royalty owners for gas, compared to all other companies. Maybe people up there would stop leasing with that company, and go with one of the others.

Do you mind telling me the parish, S-T-R, and whether or not you had cost-free royalties? That will let us know if one region has an advantage over another.

If Lou Lou from La is gettin' those rates on a cost free royalty Chesapeake is puttin the screws to her. Just when I was startin to think Chesapeake might turn out to be one of the good guys they pull some hor$e$hit like this. Someday soon someone will call them out. Cheatin folks ain't right.

Pal, who writes your check? If its CHK, then can you explain why you were not overly stiffed for the first 3 months, then in the fourth month (may) reported somewhere else, you were paid a buck less than the going rate. If you read my post at the end of the discussion, you will understand why it looks like we are jumping from the pan into the fire.

And... you are the second poster that makes CHK look awful here.

Yes, I intend to post the spreadsheet. And, if I find that there is a really bad apple among the operators, I plan to send my spreadsheet and this thread to Vickie Welborn of the Shreveport Times, and see if they are interested in digging further and asking some pointed questions.

I am not for sure, I would have to look at the lease again to see. I doubt that it is. This lease was to "China" and was going to expire two weeks after CHk spud the well. The Low prices are only part of the picture. This well as you can see was in production since July 09. Still have not received a correct payment except for three months. They continuously screw up on the Payment Decimel. Makes you wonder if that is on purpose to.....
There are no deductions that show up on statement
