New Field Discovery Application - Manning (Bossier Sand) - Angelina County

In what could be pretty interesting news for those in Angelina County, the new issue of Texas Drilling Observer is reporting today that Range Production Co. has filed a new field discovery application with the TRRC for their Ruby Flournoy Lease in Angelina County.

They have requested a field designation for "Manning (Bossier Sand)" for their Ruby Flournoy #1 well.

Here's a link to the W-1 for that well:

The Drilling Observer reports that this verticle well was completed on 9/3/2009 and tested in 9/4/09. IP was at 1.958 mmcfd and that the top of the "Wildcat Bossier Sand" formation was at 17,192' and that the bottom of the formation was at 17,900' TVD.
Mike, do you think this area might look more like the Bossier Sand out in Central Texas? They are drilling vertical wells out there with good results. There have been a few that IP'd in the 20-40 MMcfd range. That is pretty impressive for a vertical well.
Jffree1, it is doubtful as that Deep Bossier Sand play is a very thick interval.
The Flournoy well is a twin to the Mobil Johnson, which was drilled in 1990 through the Smackover to the salt and P&A'd. Kraft Pet. re-entered in 1995 and tested a "Central TX" style Bossier sand at 16358-16384 and plugged the well. The log indicates that the Haynesville shale is thin or pinched out, but that the Bossier shale looks good. The Flornoy perf interval should have tested Bossier through Smackover zones.
Mike, the Bossier Sand is a separate formation from the Bossier Shale.
Is there anything happening with the Chandler Johnson Survey, A-19, in Angelina County?
I have mineral rights there and was recently approached by Encana Gas & Oil, USA to lease my mineral rights, but then they told me things were temporarily put on hold.
There is nothing new permitted around there but someone did seismic survey back in 2008 in that area. I was driving 1818 twice a week back then and saw them working for several weeks along the highway.
Encana said that due to the low cost of gas right now, they have stopped leasing mineral rights in that area, but that could change in the near future.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
I will make it a point to post if I see anything new. The Goodrich well is the only thing going on in Angelina right now.
Keep us posted on what they find. Thanks.
Has this spawned any leasing activity in the area? If so what are the going rates?
Petro Land Group said they were representing Encana and that is who I was approached by wanting to lease my mineral acre's in C Johnson Survey (A-19). They have still not contacted me again, so they might be waiting to see what happens with the Goodrich Haynesville well. They told me the reason they put off leasing the C Johnson Survey (A-19) acres was due low gas prices, but that they were still very interested in leasing in the near future.
Keep me posted on the Goodrich Haynesville well
