Anyone know what's going on with well #240345? SONRIS shows it as "Waiting on State Potential" since the end of April. Thanks.

Looking at the wells in the other sections of the township, my best guess is the gathering system is not complete. However considering the number of permitted wells and wells drilling, I suspect there should be obvious pipeline related activity on going throughout 16N - 9W. The XTO well in Section 18 was Waiting On Completion on 7-7 and may be completed now but not yet reported. The XTO well in Section 16 is complete and had it's State Potential test reported 3-2. This well has no reported production although it is likely XTO would have had it flowing to sales long before now if there was a pipeline with sufficient capacity available.
The well produced 17056 Mcf in April, 66101 Mcf in May, and 39935 Mcf in June. Not too good but there may be pipeline issues. No data for July. Look on Sonris. "OGP Data Entry" (Oper x004, field 5096) The well in section 16 (240128) is also producing. Seems that Exco has assigned themselves a luw code equal to well serial #.

There may be other wells like this out there.

Seems this is one of those rare and interesting instances of frac zones migrating beyond their intended footprint. It appears that the frac operation in the Collins 17 traveled further than it's intended 330' zone and communicated with the zone containing the lateral being drilled in the Collins 18 in the adjoining section. The bit stuck and the drill stem twisted off causing XTO to plug the lateral and move back up hole to drill another lateral. Owing to the frac communication interference, XTO stopped completion operations on the Collins 17 and produced it with a short lateral. Now there appears to be further problems with the Collins 18 that will likely cause it to be completed with a short lateral. Both wells will be productive and hold XTO's leases but they should not be viewed as anything other than what they are, wells that experienced mechanical problems. The rock in 16N - 9W is quite good. In fact the frac migration beyond the intended distance may be an indication of just how brittle the shale is there. Brittle is good.
