Is that a LCV horizontal in Lincoln parish I see?
Yes.  BD,POI has also posted a horizontal CV completion in the Jackson Parish Group.
Devon is already producing from 2 LCV wells around Ruston and has permitted for a 3rd. They are leasing for seismic over other areas of Lincoln parish now. Maybe they like the results so far?
On a number of occasions multiple members have mentioned that horizontal CV development was the next big play on the horizon before the Haynesville Shale sucked all the air out of the room in Spring '08.  A number of companies happened to be sitting on leasehold prospective for the shales when the news broke.  Unfortunately Devon wasn't one of them.  It makes sense that Devon would be the mid-major to take the lead in proving up areas for commercial horizontal CV development in N. LA.
I wish them luck. So far, from numbers they are releasing, the wells are producing well but nothing compared to HA wells. I guess one consolation is that the LCV wells are producing some NGLs with the NG whereas all HA wells are dry gas only.
And Devon didn't have to pay $10,000/acre for the development rights.  LOL!  I'm not sure of the economics with the current price of natural gas.  Some of the horizontal CV's that I have reviewed had a modest amount of condensate.  If Devon is making money on these types of wells they will continue to drill them but I suspect they are drilling to establish the potential of horizontal completions for future development where they hold drilling rights through existing production.
So this well would be "mediocre"? Hard to understand the chokes......... #240813 - Elm Grove, S 25. T. 16N R. 11W. DAILY PRODUCTION: 5913 mcf gas on 12/64 choke, Petrohawk
No this is a very good well.  Above average.  Yes, I know it is confusing.  Once operators initiated restricted choke programs it made it hard for casual observers to judge a well by its IP (Initial Production).  The more important calculation is EUR (Estimated Ultimate Recoverable).  Operators believe that EUR is improved over the life of the well by restricting the choke in the early phase of production.  What makes this well above average is the data you have left out, the pressure.  And 8119# psi is very good.  Think of it this way:  As a well produces from a formation, the pressure within that formation declines.  Obviously in this scenario it is better to start with higher formation pressure.  A well with a pressure of 8000# would likely be more productive than one of 5000# which is closer to the average for Haynesville horizontal wells.
whew, it can get pretty complicated for the everyday person to understand and grasp! so many variables, etc. But thanks, that helps me some. I do appreciate you answering.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
