EnCana has a plan to drill some long laterals.  This plan seems to be to populate a single section with several drilling sites, and use long laterals to allow these drill sites to drain three sections.  Kind of cool.  Wish I were there....

The part about the property being held by a single land owner really facilitates drilling Extended Lateral Wells?

It certainly makes it easier.
I don't know anything about drilling but looks to me like the potential for problems would increase significantly?
Bacon, I do not believe the addition of ~ 2500 ft to the horizontal lateral will cause any significant drilling issues.  There could be some additional challenges associated with the fracture stimulation.
The HK Hamel well didn't seem to have any drilling or completion problems.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
