Coal TV Show Web Page

"Coal" series preview.

I'm real interested to see how this show depicts the coal industry.  I'm wondering if its gonna help or hurt their cause.  Either way it should be interesting.

Cypress, my 1st reaction was very dirty and very dangerous.  Mega props to those men as it takes a real man to work that job.  However, I can see the public viewing the profession as too dangerous with perhaps a damaging impact upon mother nature.  There is the side where you want to feel for those men bc the job does seem to be a legacy but I believe it is so dangerous and dirty that the public will overlook it.  I think the program will be popular yet will show the under belly of the job with an overall negative public viewpoint.
I definitely don't think the intent of the show will be of negative virtue but if they are truely delving in to the job it is going to be hard to ignore the filth, black lung, poor work conditions, explosions, cave in's, etc.  I'm of the opinion that the two men that own the mine are doing the show for income and didn't really weight how it will impact the view of coal.  I think this is why it could really be an eye opening event.
Parkdota, I have a suspicion this could be the next "Black Gold".  Hopefully not but if it is I will be giving it a miss.
Les, did you watch the 1st episode?  If so, what did you think?  I believe it played out just as I had imagined.
Parkdota, I DVR'd and will probably watch this weekend.
Parkdota, I started to watch the first episode and deleted after about 2 minutes.  I just decided it was not worth spending my time to watch.
Ha, I got ya.  I actually liked it.  I thought it was informative yet showed the dangers and filth of the business.  Maybe the rest of America will toss it to the side as well making natgas the number one choice.
Parkdota, if you want something really informative read "Big Coal".  I have a copy of that book sitting on my shelf.
Les, I'll have to look in to that.  Hopefully it won't upset me like so many other things pertaining to energy, government, etc.  I've gotten to the point where I dread watching the news.

Is it coincidental that "Coal" should premiere around the aniversary of the Massey coal mine disaster, April 5 of last year?
