Caroline, it would be helpful if you would post the township and range to go with the section number.  There are many section 22 and 23's in DeSoto Parish.

I think its Township 12 North, Range 16West, Section 22

S22-12N-16W is a Comstock drilling unit.  Currently there are 5 Whitten 22 HZ wells.  Well #1 is finished drilling and was waiting on completion (meaning waiting to be fracked) as of the last report.  Well #2 reached Total Depth on Feb. 19 and should now also be waiting on completion.  Well #3 has been drilling for 33 days and barring any problems should reach total depth soon.  Wells #4 and #5 are permitted buy not yet spud (meaning there is no well drilling them yet).  It is likely that the rig drilling Well #3 will move over to the surface location for #4 or #5 and begin drilling one of the two next.  Comstock is a capable operator and has a number of good wells in this general area.

Thanks so much for your knowledge.  I am trying to learn.  When all these Whitten wells are producing; does that mean I will benefit too?  I have the Warren #1 & #2 on my land.

Yes, you and every other mineral interest in Section 22 will share proportionally from the production of these HA (Haynesville Shale) wells and any others drilled in the future.  It doesn't matter where the wells' physical surface location may be, only the section in which the horizontal well bore is perforated.  In this case, Section 22.  Good Luck.

Does it normally take this long to drill wells?  I signed Right of Way for the Electrical to be installed to drill the wells over 1 year ago.  Just haven't heard anything in 1 year.

Do you think the operators will loose interest in Haynesville since the natural gas price has been so low?  Do you think the operators will switch to drilling for crude oil instead?

Caroline, there is no "normal" as to length of time to drill a well.  Only the operator knows the schedule for development.  Comstock doesn't have a huge leasehold and will probably continue development drilling for some time as they need to maintain cash flow.  Yes, most operators who can do so are placing greater emphasis on wells that will produce oil or natural gas liquids.  Unless you have mineral interests outside of this unit, don't waste your time worrying about getting drilled or not.  You are sitting in the catbird seat.  Learn how to track your wells on SONRIS Lite (LA. state oil and gas database) and sit back and enjoy the show.

HOSS = Hosston Formation (gas producing formation shallower than the Haynesville) Sand Unit AA.  It's a unit designation.  The first well drilled in a unit is the unit well.  All wells thereafter are ALT (alternate) unit wells.  The production for all those wells will be identical because the state does not require report by well but by unit.
