First XTO (ExxonMobil) Haynesville Units in Natchitoches Parish (8/4/10)

XTO (ExxonMobil) joins other operators in Natchitoches Parish by proposing five (5) new Haynesville Units in the San Miguel Creek Field. This is an additional positive sign for the southern potion of the Haynesville/Bossier Shale play. We will just have to see long before ExxonMobil permits and drills a well.

Adjacent to Hwy. 487, half way between the Beulah Community and Ajax, in S22-T10N-R10W, a drilling pad is being constructed. The results of this bore will be of interest to all the landowners in Northwest Natchitoches Parish. Please post any pertinent information you receive.
The Rig is on location and preparations to drill are in progress. This is a very opportune time for those wishing to see a drilling rig up close.
This is Precision Drilling Rig #504 moving onto the location for the Birdwell 22H #1 having just completed the drilling of the Faye Binning 17H #2.  I suspect that XTO will keep the #504 drilling in this area until all of the seven sections under Haynesville Unit Orders (S15, 17, 22, 28, 29, 32 & 33) are retained.  Good Luck to all.
Is there any indication at this time that XTO will be unitizing sections directly adjacent to these or is everything still in "wait and see" mode?
Tom, this would depend upon which company has leased the majority of acreage (and how much XTO has leased) in each of the adjacent sections.  Also need to see some well test results to determine the quality of the Haynesville/Bossier Shale in this immediate area.
Skip, is it possible to determine leaseholders in a given section say in 10-10 section 30?
Yes.  All those leased have either a copy of that lease or a memorandum of lease filed with the parish clerk of court.  If you know the correct legal names of the mineral owners, you can do a Grantor search which is relatively easy and straight forward.  A Grantee search would require you to know all the companies that leased in that section.  Certainly XTO and EnCana/SWEPI and possibly others but then you have to look through all their leases to find the ones for Section 30.  If you don't wish to look through the conveyance books in the record room, you could get an on line remote account.
Talk is of site surveyed on Rocks Creek Road to be next location for this rig I think thats section 29. Latest talk is of section 15, active surveying is going on for location site just north across the section line from present well site.

Les B, Skip Peel.

At the entryway of Precision Rig #504, Birdwell 22H #1, there's a warning sign that states "Poison Gas CO2", as drilling proceeds. What is the connotation of this message, and what formation/s does it relate to?

Bob, because the gas in the southern areas of the Haynesville Shale contain higher levels of H2S (hydrogen sulfide) the operator would probably be required to post a warning sign.  The inclusion of CO2 on the sign is not really accurate because CO2 is not poisonous like CO2.

Thanks Les B,

A new caution sign does say H2S. There are three colors that indicate operational conditions. Green=Potential Danger, Yellow= Moderate Danger, Red=Extreme Danger. The flags displayed on either side of the sign are Green.

Can anyone tell me of activity in San Miguel Creek. I have a lease with XTO and my property is close to the Birdwell 001 well. We own 20 acres W/2 of SE/4 of SE/4 of section 22, T10N, R10W. Thanks
