Does anyone know of any drilling activity in Union Parish, particularly from Farmerville west to the Claiborne line.  I've heard some "talk" of wells to be drilled but nothing confirmed.  Any info would be appreciated.

Tom,

No horizontal brown dense wells have been drilled yet in union parish but that will change soon as southwestern enrgy is in the process of getting approval to drill a well north of farmerville in the old Ora oil field. Currently there is a horizontal brown dense well being drilled in ark and in morehouse parish. I know several landowners in union parish who have been leased by swn and then approached by swn to plan for a pad to be placed on their property.

To sum everything up, there are no wells currently being drilled in west union parish but it appears there will be some soon.
Thanks for the info.  Sounds like things may get interesting.

I am a landowner in the area where Ora Oil Field is located.  Can anyone give me more current updates of drilling activities?

There are no current drilling activities to update.  SWN has applied for a Lower Smackover Drilling & Production Unit encompassing Sections 30 and 31 - 22N - 1W but they have no well permit at this time.  I suspect they will make an application soon.  There may be some site preparation work associated with a well pad but as that is not permitted by the state, we have to get someone who is in the area to post that information.
Thanks for the update Skip.  Please keep us posted on anything you might hear on drilling.

This well in Sec. 30 and 31 in the Ora Field, will it be a horizontal drill?  By the way thank you for the past update.

Is there any word of the well permit for this well they plan to drill?

Just got back from the well site in Union Parish on charity rd north of Farmerville in the Zion Hill area.  The well site is prepared wth large pit and they  are in process of building a high fence around it now.  Only eqipment on site at this time is motorgrader.

thanks for the update.  Any reports of any other activity in the area.

The only other thing I know of is Cabot is now leasing in this area and are offering 22.5 percent royalty 3/2 year lease and $350 a acre.

Who will be drilling and do they have permit?

Southwestern has sent notices of proposal to landowners in sec. 22 & 27 22N R3W to drill 1280 acres.

This is about 3 to 4 miles North of Bernice, West side of hwy. 167.
