The majority of land owners in our section are leased to Petrohawk which drilled the well. The remainder are leased to Chesapeake.  The well was completed 9-1-11. Petrohawk leasors have rec’d two royalty checks but Chesapeake leasors have rec’d nothing.  Chesapeake contact said on Monday that Petrohawk has not paid them.  Petrohawk said today that the first two payments should have been rec’d by Chesapeake this week.  My question: Will we who leased to Chesapeake endure this delay every month?

Inquirer:  In the past, per a similar situation, the word was, once CHK catches up with the back royalty payments, then there'll always be a one month stutter to CHK royalty owners in the future.  In other words, that's a scheduled one-month stutter for the money to vet and flow from HK to CHK and then to CHK's royalty owners.  At least, this is the way it has worked with HK and yet another operator in a HA unit.

Then again, CHK is so snaky, who knows what holdup they'll claim and hide behind?

Thank you GoshDarn. Very helpful.

Hi Inquirer -

My name is Katie, and I work for Chesapeake. As GoshDarn stated, once Chesapeake has resolved the previous royalty payments, there will typically be a one month delay in the payments received.

I'm glad you were able to speak with someone. Please let me know if run into any issues or if I can assist with anything.

Thanks!

Katie

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
