Taking GHS "Parker's" phrase: Anyone want to Guess How Many GHS Wells shut-in production as of Feb. 2012?

And...  How is the decision made per which GHS wells are shut in and which ones keep producing?

Maybe they throw darts at the HS Map.  LOL

I can't recall where I read it but I recently read that not many will be shut-in in the first year or two of production for fear that they will harm the well for future production.

Hopefully some of the experts will share their knowledge on this one.

Hi Parker,

Our CHK nat gas well has been in production since June 2010, not quite two years.  CHK has stated that they are decreasing their nat gas production by 50%.   I would like to know how many HS wells are now shut-in per the 50% reduction statement.  Or is CHK doing as they "say" they are doing, and in actuality, not doing in the HS.

If CHK holds to the 50% statement, and CHK is still looking to lease HS properties, e.g. Airport, etc., and CHK is producing and gathering more and more Plays across U.S., then where and which CHK nat gas wells are getting shut-in to accomplish statement.  The HS wells have to be in there some where, IMO.

CHK Mayo 13-16-14 H-1/Serial 240427/Caddo Parish/LA.  Shut-in/No Production Feb. 2012.

It should show up on Sonris, but documentation runs anywhere from 3-5 months behind in production month data.

GHShalers...Let us know if your HS well has been shut-in.

I'm guessing that once the pressure gets low enough that the danger of losing the well decreases.

Dunno.

Hoping to hear from those that do.

Wish I could find where I read it.

On the Haynesville Play site the author, who is pretty sharp, makes the following statement:  "In some articles about the gas storage/price situation some analysts suggest that providers might give gas away (presumably for logistical reasons)."  Is this possible????????

Can an operator shut in or down production and, or give away natgas????  Surely the mineral has some rights.

Parkdota,

Good Question.  In North Dakota, O&G companies are allowed to "flare" nat gas to get the "shale oil" out...and here's the kicker... No royalties are paid on that nat gas...

I want to know the decision making process for choosing which wells/whose wells/which "Shale" wells/which States more or fewer wells/which Parishes, Counties more or fewer wells/which non-HShale, e.g., CV, Bossier, SMK, Vertical vs Horizontal, etc., wells...to "shut-in."  ???  Is this decision strictly a covert one per Company?  What are the criteria for which wells will be/which wells won't be shut-in to cut U.S. nat gas production????

Is EXCO shutting in wells.  Is BHP Billiton shutting in wells.  XOM wells?  ETC.  ???

CHK Founder Well Participation Program Wells, e.g., MR. Chesapeake's wells????

The drilling continues on...  Nationwide.

Most smaller royalty owners won't get immediate info, but larger one's will.

Please input your information asap per your HS well's status.

Thanks in advance.

As a mineral owner, wouldn't you rather give some away than lose ALL of the production of a well?

Parker,

In a word.  No.

Unless the pro-rata share is distributed with some equitableness across all Nat Gas plays.

Not going to happen.  IMO.

I wouldn't give away my gasoline I buy for my car in an effort to decrease the prices at the pump either.  LOL   Unless the pro-rata share of  "giving away gasoline" is distributed with equitableness across all gasoline stations and those who purchase gas at the pump are willing to doing the same.

I do, however, make charitable contributions/donations in many other areas.

Maybe we need to stop all production of nat gas for a few months...  Form a U.S. "OPEC" type cartel and let the U.S. cartel force the prices sky high.  ?  It's a thought.  It works for OPEC.

Maybe then U.S. Congress would get its act together and get on with an Energy Policy that works for U.S. "fossil fuel" consumers.

Remember, royalty owners have already "given" at the nat gas pump...75% plus of ALL their production forever...  And, add "cost" deducts... And it is even more.   Royalty Owners should give away more?  I don't think so.  Let the O&G Companies give away some of their "share." LOL

My GHS opine of the day. LOL

I don't believe that you have given your minerals away you sold them. Your post sounds as though 25% isn't a fair share for you. If that is the case you could always nut up, raise/spend 8-10 million to drill your own well and keep 100% of your minerals.

jeff,

I'm CHK UMO.  I did "nut up."  LOL

I just wish things would turn around and quickly.  I was told 7 years ago that I would be bringing in the "moolah" and that I could retire.  Oh, well, hasn't happened and doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.  I can't wait until 2025/2030 as some have suggested that things will turn around.  I would be 75/80.  Way tooooooo old to be doing what I am doing for a living.  So, it looks pretty grim for me.  I guess there's one good thing about my situation:  I did NOT listen to those who told me that I could retire 7 years ago.  Thank you, Lord.  I can't imagine how many more years that I would be having to work before retirement if I had done that.

Teacher,

you know the ole sayin.....the deal aint done till the check clears. Especially in the oil business.
