This is leased land by XTO, surely they gave permission. Is it common for concurrent unrelated plans to exist on leased land?

Well, there's a Family Dollar going in on the State Highway 21 side and it is darned close to the metal spikes where the Grizzlies SL are supposed to go. Guess the pad site could be moved, if the thing's ever built.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
