I have been calling CHK weekly since the week of 3/14/12. No payment. They have told me that the well has been in production since 2009. They acted surprised that we havent seen a check. Their call center , manned by very nice, college age sounding screaners, have let me leave messages for the well manager Deborah O'neal several times. No call back. She sent a message through one of them that she would review my file on 6/8/12. I have called back weekly since...no info or response from her. I am assuming that a demand letter is over due. I did not send one as previously recommended. Is there any recourse or is it worth it to hire an attorney at this point? Are there any O&G attorneys that don't work for them? I own 1.91 acres and it looks like they owe me around 6k.

I am incredibly surprised that CHK operates in this manner. Maybe I shouldn't be.

Katie, what is the problem, I am in contact with XTO regarding the non-payment of our Royalties and they XTO tells me that they XTO are HOLDING all payments to CHK because of over payment some times back and will not make payments until they get the over payments back.  I have replied to XTO and will go to the State this coming week to see about this problem.

Hey, Larry - message me with your

phaco,

I have no idea if you have many acres or not.  But everyone needs to know that if the monthly check falls below $100, CHK will hold payment until the amount you are owed gets up to $100.  Then they send you a check for the whole amount.  With wells being choked back and some wells being fairly far into the decline curve, this will happen more and more to people.

Note, however, that you will receive a check each year, even your total annual payments are less than $100.  I know a relative whose total annual payments are under $15, but that CHK check arrives every year.

Do not be supprised that CHK operates this way, that seems to be the only way they CHK knows how to act. They rob Peter to Pay Paul but the problem now is that they have robbed so many there is no place else to get money from.

Well this months check has arrived and CHK paid from $0.14 per mcf to $0.26 per mcf.  Man they are really sticking it to us in the Barnett Shale. Guess next month I will owe them for producing my minerals.  Nothing but crooks  I can not believe there is not a class action suit going on.

reply to mickeby: they wiped out two post reply ing to you. i am going to try it this way and hope you read it.

I copied these prices. forget the source, but off Haynesville shale. about a week ago.

aug $2072-sept 2.55=oct 2.60 avg 2013 ==3.95

Chesapeake has lied to me many times. not the employees fault. if they want a job, they lie. while I was getting about 1.80 or less, another company was pay 2.50. some were getting 4.00. this month 1.18 was the highest amount. LOts of hard work went into that land by my father and me. He never lived to see any royalites, just lease money, small lease money. I was paid farily well when they began, of course, under the price other companies were being paid. they also hold out hidden expenses out of the income before you get a check. this is in Desoto Parish Louisiana.

oh yes, Cheaseapeake has an employee monitoring these post. She was nice enough to send my gripes to the company, but guess what.  i have not heard a word from them . the prices are down. the production is down.

good luck.

Yes My complaints have been refered to customer service many times and they are nice but you get no results. We need to get the word out not to deal with CHK in any manner. If you can spread the word especially up north in the Utica and Marcellous shale it might help someone latter.  I buy mineral rights regularly but will not even look at them now if CHK is operator and Im not the only one.
