Hey Mom ,
Unfortunately the new buzz word around here is " free money ". They are disconnected from this decision because they are getting something for nothing, in their minds. As long as "their " money isn't involved they are free to jump out there and seize the day so to speak. These O&G guy's are conditioning us to believe that this is how it works .This is the norm. What they say goes. If you don't hurry up and lose I mean choose , you will get left out.

Not all strive to be good stewards with what we have nor the morality or good financial sense to see the importance of paying what one owe's another. If this were not the case we wouldn't see as many as we do in financial trouble. I will tell anyone who will listen , that I am blessed . Pure and simple. My wife is as tight fisted as an eagles grip and if not for her early approach to savings she wouldn't have converted me. We try to be the good stewards we are instructed to be.Not to reach favor per say but because its the right thing to do IMO.

I feel that our money is not the only thing that we are to be good stewards of . I guess that is part of the reason I feel so burdened about this. And yes , it is a burden. A burden I believe I would gladly swap for something else at this point. But according to Luke 12:48 " to whom much is given, much is required ". I know of no man that has been given more then myself. A beautiful spouse that loves me almost as much as I love her , a loving, God fearing family that raised me to see the importance of saying" yes sir " & "no sir" and actually punished me for not doing what was right. Good health & a good job that I love ,top it all off. And now to have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people that I would have never gotten the chance to meet otherwise. If there is a man more blessed than me , I sure would like to meet him cause he's sure got it made.

Most anyone can happen upon unforseen events that could wreak havoc on us financially. Who I am refering to are people that just simply make bad financial decisions on a consistant basis. These are the people that will be in worse shape after all of this ,then before they got all this "free money". We will still be hearing how they just need a break or I just don't make enough money to actually pay for all these cars & trucks in the driveway. Living for the moment never pay's for your future.

Your analogy was splended, as they always are , but the Sunday afternoon people I am worried about refuse to think in the clear manner that your analogy speaks of. I am not even sure anymore that thinking in this manner is an option.

I don't have a" wake up dummy " stick I can smack these guy's with and if I did I don't know if it would do any good to use it. But there is still the hope that a light will click on before it is too late.

Thank you for your posting , you always make me slow down and think. Right now I couldn't think of a more wonderful virtue for someone to have , especially for my benefit ,than this. Because if we don't slow down and think , we could be harming our generations to come. Not to mention the current generation..........Us !
I think I will attend the meeting Sunday, I am curious to see what the "Going" offer is. I will also be there to cheer you on Snake!!
M Wren
thanks snake, for i to will be at the meeting, to hopefully learn some about this situation. there is a lot more to gain from a lot of the land owners, and i feel a lot of them are going into this with both barrels, and hopefully eyes wide open. i can only hope the people we listen to will incourage us in making the right decision. you can only watch the news about things that happen, and use that as guide lines for helping you make decisions. for 1 instance, the censas report on lottery winners is, there are a bigger percentage of winners that ultametely become bigger loosers, because of there gain. i would like to be able to be satisfied withen myself, and my decision, when this is over, so i try to pick up as much as i can, and hope all is happy.
What time is the meeting on Sunday?
I believe it is 3:00 p.m.
Sorry Snake. I had to leave the Shale for a little fishing on Dorcheat. I should of stayed on the Shale, but that's ok I will have the little boogers bottled upped in a couple of weeks. As far as the meeting today are you looking to change peoples minds are just listen to what the guys say.
Any luck ? I haven't been fishing in nearly three months. A good friend of mine spends quite a bit of time on the "creek" as he calls it. He's a pretty fair perch man.

I would hope that a light swich gets turned on when these guy's go through their spill .I have wrestled with whether or not to do anything at all. People that are ready to sign are going to sign. If you get in their way they will run over you.If they are that ready , they would bolt on us at the first good offer anyway.

I do not feel that it would be in the best interests of this group to be any form of trouble , even tho I was talking about throwing double yolk rotten eggs at these guy's. I just think I will wait till they are on their way out of town. (LOL) This doesn't mean that if questions can be asked ,that I wouldn't ask a question if need be.These are still our people.

If you will be at this meeting , anyone that considers themselves a part of swamo , please look me up and reintroduce yourselves to me if need be. There was so much going on at our meeting that I couldn't hardly think straight. I would definatly like to meet each and every person that has been blogging on this site. I feel closer to you guy's then a lot of people I have been living in the same town with for 40 years.
Bless your heart Ann. I believe honest harding working people like you and your family are more intersted in helping the people of this area, rather than making money. A family like yours is worth more than any of the O &G can offer.

That really doesn't have anything at all to do with your " the one that got away" story , but that was so horrible that I couldn't think of anything to say .

"thats all I got ta say 'bout that"
