Mineral Rights Transfer

Good morning,

New to the blog but I have a question and hope it sounds understandable.  We purchased a house, property and had the mineral rights transferred to us 100%.  This was in Section 28 of the Orchard Subdivision, south Bossier Parish.  We purchased in October last year.  I was told that BHP had most of the leases in this area.  I have contacted them and no answer yet.  Is anyone leasing mineral rights in the area or do I need to wait and get this transferred over to the same company?

Thanks for any information and hope I worded this to be understandable.

You need to find out which company the previous owners were leased with.  BHP has a producing well in that unit.  The serial number is 240579.  If you send me a private message with the previous owner's name, I'll tell you who their lease is with.

Or you could just ask the previous owner.  Once you are sure who holds the lease, just send them a copy of your Deed so that they can change over their records.

Encana and Chesapeake leased property in that area.  Just because BHP has the well does not mean that they hold the lease to your property.

I just looked this up for the present owner.  Sadly, the owner who sold to them didn't own any mineral rights to transfer.  They were reserved by a previous owner.
