The sale of Bonanza Creek Energy to SandRidge Energy comes as little surprise, but the key local concern is what happens to Bonanza Creek’s operations in Columbia and Lafayette County. As best we can tell, there will be little to no change. SandRidge is apparently happy that the Dorcheat-Macedonia Field is a steadily producing cash cow for Bonanza Creek. A telephone conference call held on Wednesday regarding the Bonanza Creek sale made only a brief mention of the company’s Mid-Continent operations. SandRidge President James D. Bennett said he anticipates no change in the company’s current drilling program through 2018.

Yes Dorcheat-Macedonia Field is a cash cow and hopefully for a long time. I have wells there. Bonanza was to drill 5 more on my property, they had the permits, but then oil bottomed out and they let the permits expire. Maybe this new company will do something.
