I was recently informed by Chesapeake that they do not own 100% of the leasehold in a particular well. How could I determine who the other working interests are? The well is JHSN 30&19-15-14 3HC (API no. 1703127069-Drilling Permit No. 253120)

Thank you.

Most operators of Haynesville units don't own all the working interests.  This is especially true where wells in production before the Haynesville Play were holding old leases in force but also in units covering sections with no current or historic production when the Haynesville kicked off.  Unless you are familiar with researching title records, you'd likely need an experienced landman or O&G attorney.  There is no way to do a simple search for Working Interests in a well.  Chesapeake knows who the other Working Interests are if you can get them to divulge that information.

Thanks for your reply Skip.  I believe Louisiana mineral code was revised a few years back to require the operator of record to pay royalty holders when they were leased by someone other than the operator and not being paid.  Does anyone know the particular statute that deals with this issue?  Thanks
