Anyone else been approached by Teche Exploration for leasing? I have received an offer in the mail for $200 an acre with a 1/5 royalty. I ignored it for a few days and they then called me to up the offer to $250 an acre. We actually have two tracts of land. He approached me on our land (20 acres) in Section 18-T14N-R7W. Our property is off of Punkin Center Road and sides a Natural gas pipeline that has been there forever. Anyone else hearing anything? Skip Peele asked me to share this info with other Bienville Parish landowners. Our land has not been leased in years so this offer came out of left field. Hopefully, its a sign that something may be happening in that part of the Parish!

Marc, i need to correct my earlier statement concerning how close you are to existing Haynesville Shale development. Your Section 12 is about five miles east of the closest Haynesville well and your section 18 is about six miles away. Those sections are about three miles or so SE of Castor. There was some interest in that area early in the Haynesville Play before the focus moved south through DeSoto Parish and into north Sabine.
Thanks for posting your info. I have not heard back from them at all, so far. Will keep my ears open and post an update if/when I hear something back.
Thanks, Ed. Hopefully the word on Teche is getting around in that area.
Hi Skip
Thanks for the information on R&O. I would like the referral on and O&G expert. I looked at the website from the link you provided. It looks like they do Energy and ROW acquisition. But the site does not have a lot of information.
Marc, if you are looking for an attorney with an O&G practice, I use Lake Hearne @ Davidson, Summers, Hearne, Martin and Powell in Shreveport. 318-424-4342. lhearne@davidsonsummers.com.
Hi Skip
Thanks for the contact at the Law Firm. I will give them a call.
PRE-APPLICATION NOTICE T14N R06W BIENVILLE PARISH
My brother and i recieved this notice in late January from Magnetar Exploration. It includes sections 27 - 34. They intend to drill between 10,670 and 12,495 feet in the Cotton Valley formation. Does any else have any information on this project?
Ted, I'll post links below to the three field orders for Magnetar for the CV and LCV formations in the Danville Field. A field order is effective indefinitely and comes with no requirement to drill but it is the first step before applying for a drilling permit. Magnetar Exploration is not recognized by the state as an "operator". There can be several reasons for this. In the Haynesville Shale play we have seen non-operators form drilling units and take leases in their names but not try to drill any wells.
The first possible reason for this is that Magnetar is defining a "prospect" that they hope to assign to a company that does drills wells - an operator. The second possible reason is that Magnetar may be taking leases and setting up drilling units for a client. Here is a link that comes up with a search for Magnetar Exploration. It appears that Star Creek Energy is using this name to promote drilling prospects. There are a number of companies that perform the geology to identify potential oil and gas prospects and then attempt to sell an operator on drilling those prospects paying Magnetar/Star Creek a finder's fee and an overriding interest in production.
Star Creek Energy generates inventories of oil and gas exploration prospects with compelling reward/risk investment ratios. We seek strategic partnerships with oil companies that have abundant proprietary or legacy seismic data that needs a modern look with 2020 technology, reprocessing, digital integration, and new ideas. We co-invest with our partners to ensure alignment in oil-rich areas.
Specialties: Carbonates, reef plays, Paleozoic and Mesozoic formations, new exploration trends, regional and mega-regional studies.
We are leaders in professional societies to network with successful explorers. This allows us to bring new ideas to our business. We hope that our efforts contribute towards improving our profession and the science of geology for ourselves and others.

Magnetar recently incorporated a new Louisiana corporation that may signal that they will qualify with the state to be an operator.

Thanks Skip! we leased to cypress and used Davis Powell as our attorney who saw that they wanted us to pay for post production expenses so landowners beware. I guess a pre application is better than no application for an ageing beach boy from coastal Mississippi who is looking for his Jed Clampet moment.
You're welcome. A No Cost Royalty clause is a good lease term that will pay dividends over time and experienced O&G attorneys like Davis know when a client has the negotiating position to get such a clause. Good luck, Jed. I mean Ted. LOL!
The History of GoHaynesvilleShale.com
GoHaynesvilleShale.com (GHS) was launched in 2008 during a pivotal moment in the energy industry, when the Haynesville Shale formation—a massive natural gas reserve lying beneath parts of northwest Louisiana, east Texas, and southwest Arkansas—was beginning to attract national attention. The website was the brainchild of Keith Mauck, a landowner and entrepreneur who recognized a pressing need: landowners in the region had little access to…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
