Contacted by CanAM Energy (Feb. 2009) on behalf of Petrohawk about a mineral lease. $190.00 per acre (paid in 2 payments within 12 months) and a 3/16 royalty. Their offer and draft have been filed for a future laugh. Not impressed with the CanAm rep. Anybody ever dealt with them or know of other activity in this area? 33 15N 7W

I think I would laugh at an offer like this also. I would rather not lease than accept such a low offer.
Check out Chesapeake's new map..... things might get a little more interesting in your neck of the woods. Heads up!

Had a similar offer in 15N 8W from CanAm. I heard from a Petrohawk rep that they were trying to pick up some low cost leases in this area. I told them no thanks.
We also got the same laughable offer, we did not reply
So if this offer is too low, what's an acceptable offer?
I countered with $5,000.00 per acre and 1/4 royalty. That counter offer is location specific and based on what's been drilled to date in that area and based on what I know today, the price could increase sharply without prior notice as events progress.
I think I would use this for toilet paper and then mail it back to them.
