Open letter to the Big Boys...... What seems to be the problem ?

After seeing the telecast earlier this week and the last couple of entries from Eric on East 80's web site, it seems that we have yet another turnabout in "As the Shale Turns".

Apparently it is no longer beneficial for the O&G's to talk with groups. (As if it ever was)
Even tho it goes against the grain in regards to what some of the pros on this site have told us in the past. I know that you landmen dont have strategy sessions with the big boys, or else things like this wouldnt happen. Leaving someone else holding the bag, so to speak, in regards to the rules by which we are supposed to play.

I am a firm believer in, "Alls fair in Love and War".
If the O&G's need to backpeddle, well just go ahead and backpeddle all you need to. I dont feel it will have the effect that they were looking for but you gotta do whats best for you.

Now that public opinion is no longer a concern of the big boys, its going to be interesting to see what they can come up with next to try and gain the upper hand against this more knowledgeable group of folks that seem to be left. These groups of landowners that are just being unrealistic and greedy....... I am also a big fan of , "Fight fire with fire" as well." Turnabout is fair play", another classic.

While I am a little perplexed at the childish nature that seems to have taken center stage, I truely mean no disrespect to the guys/gals that have been on this site trying to help educate us. You dont make the decissions to change course like this and shouldnt be held accountable, even tho you are an extension/ representative of said company.

I guess my main questions are ....... What will this do to any notion of trust that is supposed to be present between leasee and lessor ? While they will still pick off some, many will not be fooled by this seemingly drastic measure. The ones left will be far to many to just drill on. What options will then be left ? Will they change their minds again and talk to the groups or just man up and drill ?

P.S. This isnt a trick. Just curious. No cannon fodder from me.......Unless somebody really pushes the buttons.(LOL) :-)

The "New Less Volatile Snake" thats just passing through.(wink, wink)

thanks snake,

bottom line, is H. Shale is a blessing for all of us and will help us weather the current economic mess.

regards,

LT
I agree Larry T,
I just hope there is something left to weather through to.
Are those questions in your last paragraph rhetorical, or do you really want/expect answers? My guess, answers may not be forthcoming, too much indiscriminate cannon fire previously. Just guessing, though, because I'm in no way even remotely attached to the industry. Best - sesport :0)
Hey Sesport,
Not rhetorical, in a sense. Just wanting to give anyone the opportunity to take a poke at the hand that CHPK & TC 's has dealt to the people that are still trying to get leases signed. Not everyone on here works for Uncle Mac, I hope.Yet they could be affected, in a negative way, by the additional mistrust that this action will generate. The landmen/women working outside of the realm of CHPK will still have to pay for the "sins of the father".

Wanting good consideration and fair, ecologically safer drilling practices shouldnt be enough to make this line appear, drawn in the sand, so to speak.

While the discussion so far has been interesting, you are correct in that it hasnt touched on the initial questions and that those answers may not be forthcoming. Maybe they are just hopeing that it will go away.

Tough questions, that could be viewed as asked in a deprecating way, are not the intended result of this post. At this point in time, it would be beneficial to none. Just trying to understand more about the character, of the portion of industry that I will be sitting across the table from.

Besides, we only learn when we see, feel or hear something that hasnt been brought to our understanding previously. It may not always be pleasant but its the only route that I know of.
Have a good one.
Ah, the unpleasant learning ... been there, done that ... but it too is a blessing in it's own way.

And just because "they" have decided to go "picking" doesn't mean that we can't tighten our groups, break out into subgroups, to continue to help each other. Time to start reorganizing by thinking outside the box. Isn't that what teamwork is all about?

So, yes, let the learning begin ... again, like it did last summer, with fresh eyes, curious minds, maybe with well-honed negotiating skills. Because, after all, we are, will continue, to learn immensely.

sesport, no double entendres, no harm intended ... ever
KB - I'm sorry but this is another one where we'll have to agree to disagree ... IMO by thightening up the subgroups, the larger group retains it's power. I'm in one of the ginormous groups that hasn't been doing a good job of communicating ... I intend to contact every neighbor I know and tell them to beware. And I'll be employing the services of the retirees to be on the look-out and keep up the phone chatter. And if they have friends in the adjoining neighborhoods, to put out the call. The larger groups will have to form subgroups, not subgroups break out from the larger, to remain more intimate, cohesive & informed, IMHO.
KB - I want CPK & TC out of our sandbox as much as anyone. The chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. If the mega groups don't encourage & support the smaller groups with more info,, indeed insist that the information be passed on, pass on more information on their own websites, then the neighbors that don't have access to places like GHS will be ripe for the picking. But the information has got to be passed between intimate familiars ... who picks up the phone to call strangers?

Best always - sesport
lol ... funny thing about strangers, reminds me of a song somewhere around here sung by the Chipmunks ... at some point intentions will be called into question. That's when the links are most vulnerable. :0)

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
