It kind of makes me feel bad. My township-range is one of only three in the area with no activity.
Don't feel bad, herefordsnshale. Your mineral interest is in a highly prospective area for the shale. The slowing of the play for economic reasons will decrease step-out drilling and increase in-fill drilling. The logic is self evident IMO. If capital is constrained, credit is frozen, energy prices are depressed and extensive current leasehold is undrilled, companies will develop existing leased acreage and cease or greatly reduce the acquisition of new acreage. Just be resolved to be patient and wait until the economy begins to recover and the energy supply/demand equation readjusts.
I know the area will be developed eventually. It's the the song; the waiting is the hardest part.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
