I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT CHESAPEAKE DOESN'T WANT TO LEASE
PROPERTY UNDER WATER IN SABINE PARISH? HAS ANYONE HEARD
DIFFERENT? OR DOES ANYONE KNOW DIFFERENT? I HEARD WHEN
LEASES FIRST STARTED IN DESOTO PARISH HEADED SOUTH- THAT WAS
GOOD PROPERTY FOR THEM TO LEASE? ANY ANSWERS OR DISCUSSIONS
ON THIS?

we have 330 acres of minerals in south bossier that is completely under water. petrohawk leased it and offered to toplease it.

The title is harder to run and they want to buy the easy stuff first. You have to go back to the mid 60s when Toledo Bend was created. They don't want anything to slow the process down. The up side to this is that the price keeps going up every day and you may get top dollar. Another thing is that the Buzzards out there will contact you first, they will be looking for easy pickens and under the lake might just be that. Some don't know they own minerals under the lake and will jump at any amount of money they can get.

What exactly would be the status of minerals on private land .under public waterway, between two states, on a federally controlled waterway.? This could really get interesting! WOW,Head spinning!

In 1921 the law was changed in Louisiana, the state claimed ownership of all the beds and bottoms of all navigatable bodies of water in the State of Louisiana.
