As One Economic Door Closes Could the Door of Economic Opportunity be Opening?

This news is a little stale, but since GM has officially filed and is restructuring by selling some of it's name brands such as Hummer, would this be an opportunity to convert the Shreveport plant to produce NGVs?

from the latest AP release, which includes a statement from an unnamed source that a Chinese company is in the process of acquiring the Hummer brand.

"As part of the proposed transaction, GM said, Hummer will continue to contract vehicle manufacturing and business services from GM during a transitional period. For example, GM's Shreveport, La., assembly plant would continue to contract to assemble the H3 and H3T through at least 2010."
Is that an attempt to be humorous?
Mr. Krow - Oh, we have freeways, but I'm usually too busy watching traffic to make discriminatory mental notes about the characteristics of the other drivers. Keeps my insurance rates down.

You know how geologists are skilled in reading the seismic records/data, and CPAs can spot a calculation error a mile away, and lawyers read for potential loopholes and problematic wording in the laws and contracts? I read with a discriminatory skill for biased text.

Now, if you would have said, "They plan to sell them to Yertle the Turtles ..." I probably wouldn't have asked for clarification.

So, what's your best, educated guess as to what MAY happen after the transitional period?
It seems like interest in China's efforts to convert to NGVs has not gone unnoticed.

If you go to the link above, and try to link to the page for "Investing in China's Energy Crisis," you may find it doesn't work like I found out.
I bet they will love the unions, lol, not.
Interesting ... is it a requirement by law that the plants be unionized? Or would it be possible for them to go non-union? Anyway, the unions gave up a lot recently, IMO, so who knows what else they will concede to keep jobs.

Thank god there is no law that "requires plants be unionized". I would have been out of work years ago.
