"More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, Earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate."
"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate," the petition states. "Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

Cap and Trade and other taxation schemes based upon the farce of Anthropogenic global warming will add hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars of tax burden on American energy consumers. We must reject these schemes and focus on energy independence, not squeezing even more dimes out of the already overburdened members of productive society.

"I mean, if the vast majority of the sharpest minds in the word say global warming is for real "

Link?

"Good science is good science."

I absolutely agree, global average temperatures have not increased even one degree this century.
"In 2007 it was revealed that GISS had been artificially inflating U.S. temperatures by 0.15 degrees Celsius since the year 2000. NASA had claimed that six of the ten hottest years in U.S. history had occurred since 1995. When the erroneous data was corrected, 1998 (an unusually warm year due to El Nino—not carbon dioxide) was no longer the warmest year of the past century in the U.S. It fell to second place, with 1934 now being the warmest. And third place now belonged to 1921, not 2006. The formerly high-ranking years 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004 fell well down the leader board—behind even 1900! Four of the top ten are now from the 1930s : 1934, 1931, 1938, 1939. Since more than 80 percent of the century's increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide occurred after 1940, the warmer temperatures of earlier years can't be explained by higher carbon dioxide levels."
I'm not stating this as a political point, only as a scientific one. Even if the earth was warming slightly, the impact of it is being greatly blown out of proportion. The earth has survived metors, volcanoes and everything else that's come it's way, it will survive this too.
Besides, I only have one life, if anybody needs to be driving these little box cars it should be my kids. what the hell do these people want me to do, live a meager life so my kids can live high on the hog, oh hell no, turn up the air conditioner and give me my truck I'm going out in style.
Checkmateking,
The Discovery Channel has a six hour series about the earth, it's begining, and where it is today presently, I would suggest everybody watch it. After watching that series, you will realize in my humble opinion, that global warming is like a flea on a St. Bernard. I'm not saying that maybe, just maybe, the earth hasn't warmed up a little. But after seeing what the earth has already been through, sit back and relax, it's going to be alright.
You question someone's sources and then quote wikipedia. I mean I'm not stating an opion on the matter but...really...wikipedia...there is an edit button above your quote.
I was going to say the same thing, a college professor quoting Wikipedia.
Any facts relating to the melting of the ice caps?
That was directed to Mr. Check. : )
Your debate style is to spew out leftwing talking points while providing no facts, quotes, or links which is typical of most braniwashed liberals. Do you dispute that the earth has been in a cooling cycle since the year 2000? I have a B.S. and am currently working on a masters degree. But anyone with a half a brain who can go after the facts alone can easily debunk global warming hysteria.

You bringing up hurricanes is a huge red flag. Sea temperatures have very little to do with hurricane formation and strength. Hurricane formation and strength depends almost entirely on upper level wind strength or lack thereof. Go look it up if you don't believe it. For you to calim that the debate is over is laughable on it's face.

"Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly ... . As a scientist I remain skeptical." -- Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology and formerly of NASA who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called "among the most pre-eminent scientists of the last 100 years."

"Warming fears are the "worst scientific scandal in the history ... . When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists." -- U.N. IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning Ph.D. environmental physical chemist."

"It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don't buy into anthropogenic global warming." -- U.S. Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration."

"After reading [U.N. IPCC chairman] Pachauri's asinine comment [comparing skeptics to] Flat Earthers, it's hard to remain quiet." -- Climate statistician Dr. William M. Briggs, who specializes in the statistics of forecast evaluation, serves on the American Meteorological Society's Probability and Statistics Committee and is an associate editor of Monthly Weather Review."

"Gore prompted me to start delving into the science again and I quickly found myself solidly in the skeptic camp ... . Climate models can at best be useful for explaining climate changes after the fact." -- Meteorologist Hajo Smit of Holland, who reversed his belief in man-made warming to become a skeptic, is a former member of the Dutch U.N. IPCC committee.
"WASHINGTON (AP) — Global warming isn’t to blame for the recent jump in hurricanes in the Atlantic, concludes a study by a prominent federal scientist whose position has shifted on the subject.
Not only that, warmer temperatures will actually reduce the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic and those making landfall, research meteorologist Tom Knutson reported in a study released SundayAnother group of experts, those who study hurricanes and who are more often skeptical about global warming, say there is no link. They attribute the recent increase to a natural multi-decade cycle.

What makes this study different is Knutson, a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s fluid dynamics lab in Princeton, N.J."

Yeah, I am sure you know more than a government PHD scientist at Princeton. LMAO, Why don't you go do a little research before you shoot off your mouth.http://wattsupwiththat.com/2008/05/19/hurricanes-to-global-warming-...
Like I said you haven't refuted one article, statement, or quote I have posted, all you can say is, I'm a professor blah blah. It is laughable you call me "backwoods" when I have quoted studies by brilliant Princeton Doctors. It hope you don't teach in the sciences, especially when it comes to hurricane formation and strength.

How you can possibly call a study by a Princeton Scientist "false propaganda" and state that I am "narrow minded" when you assert that the debate on anthropogenic global warming is "over". It seems that you are the flat earther in this scenario.

One more point I would like to make, how in the world has the earth experienced ice ages? I mean according to those who worship at the church of anthropogenic global warming and assert that only man changes the atmosphere and that without man made change the earth would always stay in some utopian equilibrium? This is a huge whole in the theory of AGW.
GoshDarn,

Professor, this is not a deserted island, and we are not a bunch of Gilligans, although you higher education might lead you to believe so. The last time I checked on it, even scarecrow earned a Phd. This world doesn't need more education, it needs more common sense, that's why the good lord made me. See I went to the school of hard knocks and earned a Phd in it.

Here is the main problem proffesor, this is not college, and you don't control the debate. Your education has told you that there are rules and honor for debate, my eduction tells me to debate whether there are rules or honor for it.

What I can't understand is your talk about labeling people in your post, only to gone on and call some of your own students narrow-minded. What you talken about Willis, buddy if that's higher education then leave me out.

Take care from the 10th grader.
The United States Government, which is an excellent point, most studies that point towards anthropogenic global warming being true are funded by private institutions that already take it as Dogma.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
