This also happenned in Sec 16 of 15N, 11W, in June, when permits were issued to both both HK (#239834) and CHK (#239918). I am also confused by this.

The HK well is not completing in section 2, only the surface location is there.

Look!!!!!! at the Permit!!!!!!!!!!

GW, it is easy to be confused by some of these well permits. The Petrohawk well is surfaced in Section 2 but the lateral is in Section 11.

Sonris will also show you surface positions and lateral locations once you learn how to tickle it right.

15N, 11W, S11 is also one of those non-standard section areas, presumably from difficulty of surveying in the river area.

If you turn on the aerial photo layer in sonris, you can see that this well is going under areas flooded by the lake/river.

That is an interesting township: The original 1839 survey

Notice, Swan Lake and Lake Bistineau. These were lakes originally formed due to flooding caused from the great raft.

They then went back in 1861 and surveyed the areas that were under water (The raft had been cleared)

The scout report will say somthing like this

250' FNL & 500' FWL OF SEC 16. PBHL: 250' FSL & 390' FEL OF SEC 17. This shows the surface location and location of the bottom hole.

You can plot this on a map and see the approximate location of the latteral. But also notice in this example the surface location is not in the same section of the bottom hole. You can pull the permit and see on the plat where all these are and where they intend to perferate (complete).

The state files the wells under the surface location, not where its being completed. Remember, the system was designed before horizontal drilling.
