Township 22 Bossier Parrish
Hello to all of you in Township 22. I don’t really know what is going on in that neck of the woods but I have been doing some thinking. If the shale does reach this area the township needs to pull together. If I understand correctly (I may not) a township can pull together and it is easier for the community and the company that wants to lease the land. (The company only has to send ONE LANDMAN not 100’s; this is less money they have to shell out.) Only one lawyer has to be hired to represent the community and the cost is spread among the community. So anyway I was thinking we might need to do something. If we could get a list going with some sort of contact information we would be ready at the first sign of a Landman. Thoughts / suggestions?

I am aware today of another attempt to lease in Section 1, Township 22N, Range 12W...get this...$75 for 3 years with a 2 year option. Don't know the royalty. Offer was rejected. CORRECTION: In my previous post I said that the aforementioned area was WNW of Plain Dealing...should have been ENE of Plain Dealing (near the Mott community) . Sorry. I am not sure whether that particular section is in the Rocky Mount Field or the North Carterville Field.
This company is still trying to get leases for nothing here! Some people who I guess are hard up for money are taking them up on it but not many. Most of us are not asking for much more because they are only drilling vertical wells to the smackover formation. They have hit oil and gas on the first two wells drilled in Sec. 10 and have another site started in Sec. 3. They are trying to pool units that go into other adjoining sections. Their intention is to hold production in the other sections around the wells they are drilling just in case they hit a good well so they will have the adjoining land leased for nothing! If someone does lease to this company I hope they have depth clauses and horizontal drilling exclusions in their lease! They keep calling me after I told them what I wanted for my lease and offering the same thing. Next time they call the price goes up along with the royalty interest I am asking . We have 2 major 42in. pipelines that come through this area. This should make leases worth a lot more!
Is anything going on in Twshp 23/NW qrtr?
We've all but given up that way...Haynesville, shale, sand, or whatever.
What about sec21 19N 13W?
Little known company Berkshire Operating hits 3rd well in a row (no dry holes! ) in T22N R12W, Sections 10 and 3. Can't believe they have this all to themselves without any competiton? Hitting oil and gas! Sitting there within spitting distance of major pipelines! lol...
inthestix. Berkshire's wells are producing from the Smackover and Gray Sands. These are vertical wells producing from sand formations. No relation to the Haynesville Shale. I am unaware of any other interested operators in this area at these oil and gas prices.
Did I say anything about Haynesville shale? Oil is oil and gas is gas no matter where it comes from. They must be onto something good if they have hit 3 in a row in 2 different sections. There is a lot of land unleased in adjoining sections! Just seems a little odd to me that no one else has an interest?
Haynesville Shale wells have lower F & D (finding and development) costs. It is difficult to make a profit on wells with a higher F&D cost per mcf. When energy prices rebound, a number of plays in formations other than the Haynesville will become profitable. I suspect that is the reason behind "no one else" having an interest. Just be patient, they will eventually.
Thanks for your input Skip! When do you think there will be a rebound?
Slight improvement in price by the end of the year and ~$6/MMbtu sometime in mid to late 2010.
Bershire Operating Co. will be conducting a 3D seismic survey that covers 13 sq. miles in the Mott area in T22 east of Plain Dealing. Permission leases are being signed as of now.
Which sections are in the Mott area? How close is that to the town of Plain Dealing?

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
