The following Haynesville Shale well was recently permitted by Will-Drill in Bienville Parish:

There has been a lot of surveying being done in the Alabama Bend Field. I am in S-11, T-15N-R10W.
They told my neighbor Questar took over the leases in this area and they were going to drill a Haynesville shale in this section and 2 others in different sections.
Does anyone have more info.
Jere,
I can tell you for a fact that Questar, or anyone else has not taken over the leases in the section you are referring to. It is a PetroChem Operating Co. Cotton Valley unit at the present time.
But I bet in the next few days, or maybe less, there will be an agreement signed for someone else to take over a large amount of leases in Alabama Bend. (maybe Questar)

So, really I think you are correct, it just has not happened just yet.

But when the agreement is made, there will be a lot of drilling very quick in order to hold deep rights. And I think that will be a good thing for Alabama Bend, except for low gas prices.

I think your info is fairly accurate.

Good luck!
I know that Questar did take over some of Will Drill's leases. T159W is where some of them are. Since the post states that Will Drill permitted a well, I guess there will be at least two within a small area. My lease was with Petro Chem as well, and the royalty is now paid by Questar.
I hope you are right. I sent an email to Larry Hock, Petrochem, asking him questions and he has not responded. I did the same thing last year and it took him weeks to respond.
Supposedly, whoever does it, they are to do 2 wells in different sections and then, this section is third in line. They have already surveyed right of ways and pad location in this section and in one other, that I know of.
How long between being permitted and actually drilling a well? Has this one been started?
Missy,
There is no set time frame between permitting and drilling. They can let the original permit expire. But I can assure you that WillDrill will not be drilling you a Haynesville Shale well. In the WillDrill areas and the PetroChem areas, the Shale will be drilled by Questar. And that is great news for the mineral owners.
As I said, Questar took over the leases in my area. That is why my check is from Questar and not Will-Drill. My HS well will be drilled by Questar, but apparently Will Drill plans to drill at least one HS in Sec.8,T15NR9W. I don't know what determined which sections Will Drill kept the deep rights on though. Any thoughts?
As I said, I do not think you will see ANY Haynesville Shale well drilled by WillDrill. Just because they permitted on or two early on doesn't mean thet have to drill it. ALL of their interest in the area was farmed out to Questar.
Let me clarify, I know that Will Drill isn't going to drill my HS, if I actually get one. They are n't in the business of drilling the deep wells as far as I know. However, I suppose they could get investers to help them. Also, I am not sure if "farmed out" is the same as being paid almost 3/4 of a billion dollars for most of their Ringgold production. If so, then yes they did. Thats the reason I am a little confused as to why Will Drill would permit right near my section which as been bought by Questar. I look forward to working with Questar.
Missy,
I sorry if you misundertood me. I did not refer to WillDrill drilling YOUR HS. I think the deal (3/4 billion dollars) you are referring to is when WillDrill SOLD their interest in the Woodardville field to Questar. Section 8, T15N-R9W was not part of that deal. That unit is part of a later deal where WillDrill farmed out their interest in the Alabama Bend Field to Questar. This deal was made after WillDrill permitted the HS well you made reference to. Questar now controls that unit. But there was very little chance of WillDrill drilling that unit anyway, it was simply part of some "posturing" that was going on at the time between WillDrill and the other owners in Alabama Bend.
Missy, I just noticed in my third post up I did refer to "your" shale. I apoligize, that was not what I meant.
Bird, thanks for the info.
