I heard something about Miller county, but not Titus. Have you been offered a lease form? By who?
High altitude comments about lithium lease potential in Titius and surrounding counties.
The Smackover formation appears to be the "target" section for lithium extraction options at this time with the core Texas area in Cass County. This formation and is general relationships to salt and evaporite formations (the possible source for lithium and other rare minerals) is similar from Hopkins County (to the west) all the way through Cass County and to the east towards the Magnolia area in Arkansas.
So the "system" for possible (stress possible) high lithium concentrations is in place along this trend.
With that being said, formation water mineral concentrations can vary quickly. And changes can be extreme over relatively small distances.
I posted an item several months about lithium concentrations in Smackover water in NW Cass County (Bryans Mill area) about USGS water chemistry results.
In this area, lithium concentrations varied from very good to OK to very poor - over less than a 50-mile distance.
The complexities of lithium concentration in Smackover formation waters are extreme and difficult to predict. Those operators that can gain access to good Smackover water samples from across the aforementioned trend will have a "leg up" on understanding the potential of these areas.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
